Your opinion of the Crossfires.

I never warmed up to the styling.

Agree the coupes are not the best looking. Like the convertible much better. Coupe with enough HP would cure the looks problem but not a Benz engine.

I rented a metalic red convert quite a while ago to drive through NV and AZ. It's a fun little car, but not much room for luggage. I guess I didn't quite think that through! As far as styling goes... not a huge fan of the overall result, but points for doing something that wasn't just a cookie cutter blob.

I always thought they were cool. I know they were unpopular but I saw one at the Mega Mopar Series in Denver and the SRT models are pretty damn quick. Too bad the SRT only comes as an automatic. They are pretty cheap considering they are a Mercedes SLK.
I bought a Crossfire SRT Roadster for my wife 12 years ago. Had 2,900 miles on it. She loves that car. It’s really a cool car. It’s almost as quick a our SRT8 Chrysler 300. Now with 30k on the clock I’ve only had to replace the supercharger cooler water pump.

Since being a Crossfire owner for twelve years and not having any major problems with the car, I would suggest anyone interested in buying one to go to crossfire forum.org and learn the ins and outs of the car. Also you will discover that Chrysler Dealers don’t have the expertise to work on them and most Mercedes Dealers refuse to work on them IMO. But you need to do your own repairs or find an independent Shop that specializes in Mercedes.
The electronics on the Crossfires controls everything and is very difficult to modify. But there are companies that specialize in Crossfire performance upgrades.

This thread got me to thinking and I found the concept version of the Crossfire. I think I like the Concept better. The back still isn't great but, kind of reminds me of an 50s Corvette.

I'm always trying to think of overlooked cars. 2nd Gen Chargers are great but you're going to pay the big bucks. I'm always trying to think out of the box. That means cars that are cool but might not be very popular.
Hard to believe today, but our beloved B bodies fell into this category when I was in my 20s. The cars were cheap at the time, but body and trim parts were impossible to get.

I was able to buy lots of NOS parts from the dealership for my 68-70 cars in 1982. Looking back, I wish that I had the funds and insight to buy triples of everything.

Looking back, I think the dealership wanted to sell me a newer vehicle, rather than permit me to keep the first GTX looking clean and original. In the late 70s, it took nearly six months of pestering the service manager to get a set of factory exhaust tips for $12, and a trunk lip molding for a bit more. I tried to get a new quarter panel for Baby Blue in 1983, and struck out.

The more I look at the coupe the more I like it. It doesn't have the short deck, and long hood proportions of a lot of sports/muscle cars but that's okay. You were right about the Bugatti Atlantic. There was a new Atlantic concept that was never made and God Dam* it was beautiful.

Remember the Cheetah? It was all about function and I heard it was a bitch to drive
