Here's a little update.
So far the repair holds up just fine and i'm using the chair everyday. Up to 12 hours per day.
The reason i'm posting this is that today the "recliner spring" broke in half. (See pics)
But this is no big deal if i can find a replacement.
I bought this chair probably 5 years ago or even longer for 1500$ used. (New ones sell for 7 grand here in germany)
Then i put 700$ in the upholstery and carpenter work and now i'm looking to replace a spring which is probably not all that much.
Saved a lot of money while having a great chair and being max. environmentally friendly.
