Well I just pulled the trigger on a diff for my 63 dodge. I have a non taper 8 3/4 housing. I ordered a new 489 case with 3.73 gears and a Detroit locker. Includes the good gasket and 1350 pinion drive. 3 week delivery. Slowly but surely it’s making progress.

The locker is a nice piece. I've got one in a 742 case with 3.91s, in my 62.
(May I make a guess? $1500 center?)

Right on target. That’s to my front door. Going from a 741/2.93 open.

Thanks. I was lucky, I had a good friend who owned a rearend shop, and he got me the locker for what would be an absolute giveaway price today. And he put the center together, for the cost of the parts.
Edit: and the 3.73s will be a world of difference from two-somethings. Great gear for an around-town toy.

It should be way different. Medium warm 440,3k stall, 373’s. Next is shocks. I’m thinking Calvert to go with the splits and bars. 318 tbars up front.
