zinc or chrome tow ball

any difference with a zinc tow ball over a chrome tow ball. pulling a 34 foot tag trailer and dont know if there is any difference other than a $5.00 more price tag. any opinions?:head_smack:

Zinc plated slightly less prone to rust over chrome plated, provided you start losing the chrome plating on that type of ball. Recomended for boat / watercraft trailer applications or if you live somewhere humid...and leave the ball out in the elements.

I remove mine (well, the wife does) when not in use. ha-ha Seriously, in certain geographical locations (Florida, Georgia, Texas) I have heard they are a commonly stole item off pickups. If it's not left in the elements, they tend to last for ever...chromed or zinc'd.

Pabs, you got that wrong, unobtainium is what it appears to made from until you find it, once you realize the price it's made of ohmygodalloy. LOL

I only use a pintle, too many of my friends have lost their trailers. I don't think it makes any difference, both will get scratched, rusted, and should be grease any way.

It's a plastic novelty item...replaced the hanging nuts...more acceptable/ less offensive to those who got offended.
