To fellow members in NE, I would stay away from Town Fair Tire and take your cash elsewhere. Yesterday i had a tire shread itself on the road in my daily driver (02 Chrysler Sebring). I babied it to town fair just because they are a walk in shop. Paid for one tire, balancing and a 50 dollar front end alignment. 3 people were waiting along with me. I arrived at 2:30, car did not enter the garage until 5:45! mind you, the store closes at 6. so at this point i have serious doubts that they will be able to perform the alignment before they have to pack up. i moved to the waiting room so I could get a good look at the CCTV behind the service desk. I watched the tech mount and balance the tire, but the car never came close to touching the alignment rack. when they attempted to check me out, I asked for the computer print out. kid tried to bullshit me and said they don't give them out anymore. Totally pissed at this point. Called the corporate office the next day and bitched. long story short, i got the alignment for free and i made sure they did it. should have seen the look on the service writer kid's face when he handed me the printout that they supposedly dont give out.

Yeah, you gotta watch,Bought some tires at Discount Tire, checked the dates on them and one of them was 6 years older than the others sitting on the shelf.

It's always a good idea to check the date codes on any new tires no matter where you buy them. I would be very surprised to find any tire dealer that actually checks the date codes on the tires that they get from their suppliers. I've personally never had a problem with Discount Tire. All of the tires I have purchased from them have been less than a year old, but I always check the date codes before they mount them anyway.

Don't think we have them out west - if I see one I'll just drive on by....

True, beware of Discount Tire anywhere.
I've bought at least 10 sets of tires from Discount Tire Direct online and had my local guy mount them. Never had a problem and they have ALWAYS had the best prices if you wait for their deals with rebates. And, free shipping.

Well,
I'm from Rhode Island
It is a "corrupt and democratically controlled state"
Everyone is trying to screw the "customer"

Discount tire is the ONLY place that has NOT bitched up my wheels or overcharged me for some bullshit. That's the only place I will go and buy tires from. I get the best deals through them.

Not true!!! The discount tire here, is outstanding, they have done my tires for the past 20 years I have lived here, never an issue, always fix flats, rebalance, and rotate for free. They take extra good care of my cars when I bring them in and when I got the wrong rims for my car and needed to go smaller tires, no issues, they switched me to the smaller ones, and refunded the difference. They also provide some goodie bag stuff each year here for our mopar car show. The manager is awesome, and the guys that do the physical work are knowledgeable!
