Biult this sexy bitch for one reason only, burnouts any time, any gear, all day long! When a Dodge dealer asks you to do a burnout...you do a freaking burnout!View attachment 1825204
Nothing as impressive as a freshly cut weed free meadow and a well trimmed grove of Blue Spruce evergreens......

I wouldn’t bother being in this hobby.

But to each his own.

It is disappointing to see the limp wrist dudes that lost their mojo....if they ever had it.
Burnouts? Hell yeah! Light them up, smoke them out, have some fun. Anyone that thinks it is a waste of time is a dullard that likely can't spin a wrench any better than a monkey can.
Our tires usually age out long before the tread is worn out so why not?
The one thing that stands out for me is the advice to start in 1st and upshift to second as quickly as you can. Getting the tires to start spinning is the hard part, once they start, they can often stay going through 2nd gear.
Armor All on the tires, soapy water, whatever washes off easy will work.
No, this is NOT abusing the car. It is having fun with it. Gentle starts and driving around under the speed limit while never crossing 2800 rpms is for vegans and dudes on parole that are afraid of the cops.
Is that the guy that you want to be?

No, I really doubt it.
To me, it is a sad thing to see a guy own a legendary car and not run it hard every once in a while.
I'm somewhere in the middle. I used to be a burn out maniac. I'm less one now, partially I've maybe just changed with age, but another part is these cars may be more fragile now just due to age, so I think twice, add to that getting parts is a different game now when something does break. I was talking to my neighbor yesterday how it took multiple trips or Oreily's and a special order to get one frigging low beam headlight.
That said, I buy these old cars for the kid in me who saw them doing that dumb ****, so I end up doing it too, just not as much as I used to. Someone made the point/comparison to going on vacation, or other disposable income type things, which I never really do, this is my disposable income fun.
Anyway all this talk and no actual burnouts, WTF. Its a Ford but my only vehicle that can do a decent one, vid is a few years old but it still does it, so enjoy (it was done in Drive, no idea if that matters with a C4 tranny and not sure I want to know!):

Agreed. It’s not the tires. I keep the rev limiter down to 4k so nothing stupid happens.

...and a ford is lining up in the other lane???
Something cryptic in this phrase....????....

With likely no consequences to the breahing of the tire smoke.....roughly equivalent of smoking a carton of cigarettes in 15 minutes.....so you'll have rubber coated lungs......???....but that's part of being "cool"......???

Hell yeah it is.
There are two sides to this issue and the support for burnouts overwhelmingly crushes the opposition.

Oh you're on that aggressive tar and chip like when I did this one. (Take a deep breath Bob)

There used to be 2 types of people in the world; those doing burnouts, and those wishing they were doing burnouts.
Now there's a 3rd variant

I actually referred to it as stupid, not cool. But I still enjoyed it and my lungs are fine according to the last check up, and I used to spend around 16 hrs a week and the dragstrip. Don't turn this into me suggesting people should all breathe tire smoke deeply.
At the end of the day there will be those that think its cool and while I may appreciate if something nice about it is said my way, ultimately I don't care, just as I don't care if people are against it when it has no direct bearing on their lives.

And I'm the #1 person of the third variant......those that don't give a ****......rubber tire smoke is like glyphosat, agent orange, DDT, and Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) and other known carcinogens.......problems don't develop until later in life......until it's too late .......but, if you don't care, then I don't care (about you) as well......

The whole car hobby seems like a carcinogen to me, and I don't mean that flippantly. As well as being a money suck for most of us, I don't know if you think you live a zero risk life and really don't want to know. Mine isn't zero risk but I weigh the pros and cons, its a personal choice that let's me enjoy some of it and not just exist but live.

I got to ask.... is your 8.75 equipped with a sure grip set ?
The whole thing sounds like a blast, the 2bbl should work ok , bump a little more timing in, start in low as suggested, little extra rear tire psi.
When doing that 1st gear tire fry do not just dump off the throttle. That's tuff on transmisson parts. After you get that smoke rolling just ease off it.
Sure grip and a 4 barrel Edelebrock AVS2.

Glyphosate is not a know carcinogen, despite every scientist in the world trying to prove that it is.

I would suggest a little common sense to not consume air that you can see and taste when possible, and you’ll probably be okay.

Next you'll say me grabbing the rubber of my rear quarter after a burnout and chewing it is a bad idea.
