    New Mufflers for a mid 60s B-Body

Nitro Rat, thanks for your comments. The XLERATORs we used and tested have welded cases, like the ones I built. This is one of the very early ones, a 14" case. These are relatively loud and that is due to the short case and the perf pattern they used. The big ones, like you mentioned, used a...

    New Mufflers for a mid 60s B-Body

What is different is that the st. st wrap stops any blow out. It acts like a one way filter. Sound through it and no ceramic out. Without the st. st. sock material, you are dead on, it all blasts out pretty quickly. Here the stuff is on the VOE mufflers I built. Some are going on 22 years...

    New Mufflers for a mid 60s B-Body

Had a lot of parts left over from other projects and decided to use them to build these two, large, st. st 3" in and out mufflers for my pal's 1966 or 1967 Dodge Coronet. They have 21.5" bodies that are 11" by 5" and are made from 409 and 304 st st.. They have a very good pattern perforated...

    Tight vs Loose Torque Converters

We ran the switch pitch converters. Big and heavy and you had to be careful of ballooning them. But, at the time, they were a cheap race converters for big Pontiacs. I think my cousin Rick still runs one inches 65 Bonneville wagon.

That heavier spring in the throttle valve circuit will also affect WOT shift points, along with grinding the valve.

    727 year interchanges

I just did one with the motor home swap. The one I used was a 76-78 440 18,000 GVH unit and it was a tough transmission. if you can find one, they have some HD stuff in them. Of course, you need to switch the output shaft and extension housing but when going through them anyway, that is not a...

exhaust shop is suggestion delta flow 50 serries or 18in Magna flow 3inch exhaust help lol

Turndowns and flowmasters will typically resonate as will any muffler with turndowns. Add tailpipes and it'll help a ton! :):)

Thanks 331. I just heard a 520 cu in Jon Kaase Ford with these MagnaFlow-style mufflers and it was impressive.

3inch header to 2.25 exhaust to 2.5 inch muffler?

Dynomax 17748. 20" long body. 2.5" in and out, offset in and center out. Bolt right on. Work great. Perfect muffler when mounted correctly.

exhaust shop is suggestion delta flow 50 serries or 18in Magna flow 3inch exhaust help lol

James, You need to fit the 5" by 11" by 21" Magnaflow on it. They sound good, flow great, do a real nice job of toning it down and will not resonate too badly if they mount them correctly. If there is still a 5 by 11 Superturbo, it is even better if it is the long body one.

Anybody use Vibrant mufflers on a big block?

Some car guy, if that is an open box inside that junction, I'd be hesitant to use it. I am not sure what the benefits would be, if any. Pypes' X-junctions are much closer to the original Dr. Gas X junctions.
