    My overheating senario….

Old hoses, all of them get weak eventually needing replacing, if the lower hose is weak and haven't changed the upper one, good time to do it. Brake hoses, fuel, vacuum hoses, pcv, get mushy from wear and/or age and can collapse or fail under use.

Here we go again- hurricane Milton

Is this joking around? Creating hurricanes and only targeting red-states? They’re along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, AL, MS, LA, FL, TX, suffering hurricanes as long as the records go back. Blue-states along the Atlantic coast have had hurricanes. Seems that a few blue-states have had their...

Oil filter too close to headers???

I have a poly with headers having to use the shorter filter accessing it from an access opening in the fender well. Filter doesn’t fit through the opening so I set it on the header (using plastic bags laid on the header to catch any oil) then lift out from the top.

Here we go again- hurricane Milton

From what I had read, there's two similar tracked hurricanes, one in the later 1800's and the other a little over a 100-years ago. It hit Tampa when the pop there was like 100,000 and 8 people were killed. Geez, what's it now? Couple million?

Here we go again- hurricane Milton

Yeah doesn't look good. Rare storm track for the area. Have a cousin in Tampa hoping she, family, and all her pets are prepped...well as much as this could be. Hope & prayers for all those possibly impacted.

    My overheating senario….

All good tips, I had a hell of a time chasing hot motor problems after rebuilding the motor adding more HP, doing several things posted up here. But, if I follow in the OP’s case, I gather nothing much was done to ‘change’ things? Maybe I missed it along the chain. Didn’t drain the radiator...

    Oh, here we go again

About 15-years ago got hit by a hail storm. Toasted my ’97 Ram and wife’s Eagle Vision. (I had pulled it out of the garage an hour before the storm so my daughter coming home for a visit from college could park in the garage – yeah, she got home after the storm). The adjuster while here asked...

    My overheating senario….

Go with the OEM spec cap. I use a 160 stat as mentioned earlier, but many prefer 180, either one.

    Motor running hot.

If running a 'new' head, heads, rebuilt motor, it will run hotter during break in..

    Motor running hot.

Agree, had to find this out with an infrared thermo. Yeah, just what IS the temp 1/2 way, etc.

    My overheating senario….

Given your hassle ya will need to refill and if that lower hose should come off, refill more as it will drain the block. Take your time either way to assure air pockets are purged. For some it may be a one and done; but I've had to do it more than once. Air pockets can be sneaky to get rid of.

    Need some Women advice guys.

Kind a chilling hey. That gal somewhat resembles the gal I was referring to in the post above. Well, she’s in her later 60’s so doubt she looks like that now. Lol, if we’d stayed together that could be her laying the bricks IN…over my body, rather than taking them out...

    My overheating senario….

I’d suggest getting another cap as it ‘might’ be part of the hassle. Had one that was bad, but it resulted in serious overheating due to pressure failure and spit all over…and parked on the interstate for a tow. Cap may not be bad, but if I even suspect it, it’s a cheap replacement. I did notice...

    Oh, here we go again

Much as I like the coasts and water, some areas just aren’t a good place to build or rebuild. Same building in areas that burn. Some pay and some don’t. Spent over $200-grand paying insurance premiums for my biz, never having a claim. That went to others having them..

    Checking / Adjusting Valve Lash

I’m going to check/adjust the valve lash on my slightly built poly after a couple thousand miles. The build included solid lifters. It’s only been 45-years since doing this on a GTO, so quite rusty. I’ve been researching the drill and came across a vid from Summit that says you only need to...

What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

The season is a changing by me, absolutely gorgeous weather past few days, high 60’s, low 70’s little humidity. Ahh, but the trees are once again signaling what’s coming by color changes and falling leaves. Crap weather is coming, cold, rain, snow, wind, hoping for a mild winter, but never know...

What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Impressive! Was going to post pantry shelving work I'm doing for one of my daughters, but seriously elementary compared with your project so I'll skip it, lol.

    Only one new post today?

Someone posted options on another thread, I used one and all good. Think it was ctrl>shift>R and it worked.

    Oh, here we go again

Good advice. It's typical for businesses to shop every 3-years including insurance agents (if not in a captive or self-insured). I was in the industry for several years, on the commercial side, mostly work comp, underwriting and risk control. As well, on the insured side of the table with this...

    I hate, hate having glasses!

Never liked 'em either. I'm 69, every year I have had eye exams and they kept telling me didn't need cat surgery 'yet'. But wow the deterioration seemed warp-speed in just a couple months, back to doc and they said, oh yeah I need it..
