Another vote for a different block. I've had my 44,000 mile A-12 hidden away for 30 years and am now in the build. For $400 I found another block so put my numbers-matching block and trans in the corner for safe keeping. There is a Tremec kit available to put a 5-speed in that includes...
That's sweet! It would be great as yellow. I'll always remember the car that sucked me in, when it was, where I was, and what happened. The neighbor across the street bought a new 1969 Roadrunner. It was yellow with black stripes. I was 7 that summer. I was sitting out front watching cars...
I found some formulas that calculate the flow. While they don't agree exactly, it seems that around 500HP-520HP is the limit for dual 2.5" I'd rather have more ability than needed, so have decided to go 3" all the way.
So, 2.5” and not 3”. I’ve heard 3” isn’t necessary until… and I don’t remember the rest. I’ll be running 512 cu in and am told that’ll be over 600 hp so am also wondering about exhaust options.
Thanks!!
Yes, I've stumbled across some but they're mostly very modern-looking. My 1969 Bee was purchased as a racecar and I'm trying to put it back close to what it was - but I don't like the ET Drag slot wheels that were on it. So, it need to look like something that was around in the...
What wheels do you have with that backspacing? I'm looking and only find things like Cragar SS 15x10 with 4.3" BS and Torque Thrust D 15x10 with 3.77 BS. I would need to narrow the rear to use those!
I agree those look like ET Drag slotted wheels.
These were on my car when I bought it many years ago. Not good pics, sorry. Rears have "ET Drag" cast in the back side of them and old L60-15 tires!
Car was dropped off at restoration shop. It will be soda-blasted. Original glass is being carefully removed now. Rear glass done. Windshield Monday.
Block went to machine shop yesterday. It will be deburred, decks equalized, align honed, oil passages opened, oil pickup enlarged from 3/8” to...
I appreciate all that. I’ve been asking for tips and recommended shops for awhile. I contemplated Graveyard Cars and my brother even admitted to calling Overhauled. They told him they wouldn’t guarantee using the original engine, so he told them to forget it.
I even tried to find a place that...
Final decision made. I want to drive it, but I want a fresh start.
So, I’m stripping it down. It’s going to the sand blaster, then the restoration shop for a new trunk floor and some minor rust and dent repairs, a new rear crossmember/shock mount, and subframe connectors.
It’ll be sealed...
It’s not, but it’s creepy it’s so close! Texas tags are different and the hood is different. And my front bumper is trashed from being towed by it. Mine doesn’t have that triangle in the grille and has a small dent in the left front fender near the headlight that’s been there since at least 1982.
I just did. I was laughing because I removed the arm rests and they had cigarette butts and a soda/beer can pull tab that must’ve been in there since the ‘70’s.
There were only a few shreds of the sheet left. It was there, but mice got to it when they shredded the seat padding to build a nest...
Which would explain why it didn’t seem to want to fit the door cylinder. I haven’t used a Chrysler key in over 30 years, so I guess I forgot which hole to stick it in.
Are the round keys trunk only? If so, that’s a shame as my trunk cylinder is MIA.
I am starting work on my 1969 Bee. When I removed the glove box, I found a Chrysler key under it in the support frame for the dash assembly.
It has a regular spiral key ring but also has a ring on with the key. On this ring there are raised letters that say “Record & Destroy” and there are two...
Wow - all good points and adding to my list of things to consider before making that final decision.
I think at a minimum I’ll do what needs to be done either way - like to go through the engine short block and get that freshened up while I source other things I know I’ll need.
The guys at...
