I have the Borgeson steering box kit from Bergman’s and I installed the pulley on the pump but the shaft has some play when pulling and pushing. Wondering if that is normal or if it needs to be pushed on further to remove the play?
...I thought that Peter also ported the passages of the steering unit but I'm not sure on that.

Test fitting the Borgeson and coupler shows why the Borgeson coupler is longer.
When attached all the way to the box the Borgeson sits at the exact same distance from the firewall.
I had planned to cut it to make my locking clamp fit but that is a no go now.

The linkage is solid.
I grabbed the pitman arm while wiggling the steering wheel and yes, the slop is in the Borgeson box.

@Kern Dog - he should chime in on this. He recently pulled my column shift to help me do a Borgeson swap and upon reinstall it's experiencing the same symptoms. He says there's adjustment in the mounting plate and that it takes trial and error.
I've been looking at the Borgeson steering box. My OE steering box had been rebuilt around 2005 and re-installed when the car was restored in 2009. If I remember correctly, it was rebuilt by Firm Feel with one step up in firmness from stock. A little over 3000 miles later and the steering is...

Mopar Action magazine had an article on a Borgeson swap into an early 60s Plymouth that required the same fix that you did....thin sleeves to shrink up the space in the Borgeson mounting holes.
