    The front clutch is engaged for Reverse & Drive. So if you are getting 1 & 2 when in D, & also getting Rev, rules out the front clutch.

    Virg, The centri curve & total mech advance is the LAST thing you do..... The First thing you do is get the idle timing correct. Failure to do this will result in the car not performing at it's best. One member has already told you his combo needed 60* at idle. Hint, hint.

    MSD spark plugs

    I wouldn't use the MSD plug; it doesn't have a ribbed insulator. The ribs extend the surface length from the terminal to the plug body. The increased length makes it harder for the spark to 'leak' away to ground.

    Nope, the 800 AVS....is 800cfm, not 750. Edel made ALL the throttle bores 1/16" larger on the 800m carbs v the 750 carbs. 1 3/4" v 1 11/16".

    Thanks for the reply. I do not see a problem with the contact patch moving further out on the lifter surface. The actual contact area is very small because of the lobe taper/crown on the lifter. It is so small that the oil gets squeezed out because of the high, concentrated load; the end result...

    It is wrong to claim the AVS2 is a 'rebop' of the TQ. Totally different. TQ has triple primary booster design, AVS2 does not. AVS2 has venturiis with a booster in the secondaries; TQ has no sec venturiis, just discharge tubes.

    Well, there is your problem: 10" of vac in gear.....That leads to other problems. PCV is probably not working with 10", likely that it is vibrating/oscillating letting in more air than it should. With car in gear, put your hand on the PCV. If you can feel movement, it is not working properly...

    Edel AVS 2. But which one, 650 or 800? The 650 would be my choice, buuuuuuuuuuuut: you have a 4 speed, 3.91 axle & a dual plane intake all of which lend themselves to a slightly larger carb. Your call.
