Thank you for the detailed response, super helpful! I was looking at the 4.8" retainer, but it sounds like that won't do the trick. The car is numbers matching, so it is the factory bell housing for sure.
I will look into this, if that is true and I have a 307 bearing, then I could get a 4.35" retainer and I am set? Based on another post, sounds like the factory bell housing has the 4.35" opening most likely.
Sweet. So you figured it out? In the end, what was the issue? Were the secondaries binding up on something or not? I was putting my money on that, and hope to win the pool. Just kidding. Well done.
That bracket has 2 holes...
Top or bottom depending on the ride height you choose...
If you have the 22" front segment springs and want the rear moved back an inch you do not need the bracket...
AR Engineering has several bracket styles to chose from depending on what you end up doing...

Everywhere on the internet still shows a spread bore which is what I wanted.
Edelbrock said that they did not make a spread bore anymore. Hence, I bought this carb to go with the intake.
