Ok. I was able to get the tank lid fitted up a little better. Put it through the shrinker a few times with hammer/dolly in between shrink sessions. Once I got that done I repositioned and trimmed the mount pad for the trans unit. Have 2* or so now on the pan rail. From there started working on...

Job for a mill I would imagine. The unit locates off of the front pump bolts. You may be able to saw off the bulk of it, then finish in the mill. As I remember, the unit is an SFI spec shield too. I believe the company was based in Florida the last time I looked.
The Cummins has a different bell housing pattern. You'll need a 95 and back unit for a small block. 96 on is the RE series. On the unit you have on hand though, the 91-3 units for diesel are non lock up. 94- is lock up for diesel. What you have would make a great donor trans for a big block. Cut...
