Cam Button required for roller cam regardless of what you mentioned keeping toward block. That just makes no sense. Rule out cam walk and also do you have reinforced timing cover plate or reinforced cover. Beg borrow or buy a point distributor to confirm distributor is ok. Bronze gear is new??

Guys I have a question regarding the stiffening plates. The center hole is for center access to the bumper.
What are the two other slotted holes for if anything? Are these for clearance for something or just to lighten them up?
Edit: Ok they are for the adjuster! I see that now!!
