Clamp the rod in a vice with about 1/4 inch of space to the piston. 2 large screwdrivers one on each side and it will pop right off.

I think a few 1/4 window decals look great, but don't overdo it. Like a Hurst decal for a 4-speed car, period NHRA decal, decal matching your aftermarket wheels, etc.

I'm assuming he wasn't the original owner buying it Sept of 70. Bought, motor blown, dealership made a deal and put a service long block in it and resold it.
