Been restoring wiper motors for along time
The prestolite wiper motors as used by mopar are the same electrically and are all capable of being a 3sp or variable it all depends on the switch
The parts book is misleading when it uses variable. Its the applacation of the part not the part
I have one of these transmissions and it sounds like an old truck. After three trips, including a smashed crate, to GFI and one to Passons and more money from me no one can fix it
Typically there aren't any numbers or a date code on 2sp motors. Every once in
awhile I see an ink stamped P/N or on the housing or a number stamped in a ground strap. I have never seen a date code on any of them.
You need to find out if you have a 2sp or variable/3sp

You'll need the complete crank for a 68 B-body P/N 2580934 it will say V-SPEED on it You'll also need a 3sp switch. The connector should be the same as they didn't change the c-body connector until 69.The plug on the c-body should be black and the pin out will be the same as the b-body. The...
Ground the motor and then apply power to one terminal it should run in one direction and stop. Switch the power to the other terminal and it should run in the opposite direction and stop
If you have the crank from the donated motor and the part number on that crank ends in 273 The motor will work. You'll have to rewire the connector on the late motor to match the original.
The finishes on these motors vary widely from dull and dark to bright and shiny. They are not all smooth some even have deep machining marks in them. An NOS motor can be dull on the outside from exposure to the elements, even in a box, but if you open them up they are shiny on the inside. I have...
Your motor came out pretty nice. However Chrysler stopped using cad in the early sixties and used gold zinc instead.
