Very nice Plymouth! The caps you show are generic Volare/Aspen from the '70's, I think. Yours are the aluminium ones, but they also came in stainless steel and are brighter. With holes punched around the outside of the face, they became Police wheel hubcaps. The '69 Plymouth cap was similar to...
Good Point on the B vs C body. I noticed it but didn't really comprehend it when I looked this up. When I got my R/T it had all new Auto adjusters installed. Like you said I had always heard heavy duty drum systems for R/T's and police came with Manual. I am in the process of wanting to...
So I have updates;
I got the oil pressure problem fixed, the lines were reversed. I now have 90 psi of pressure.
I got my DD dash to work at least somewhat, the tach works but I am not real sure about anything else. It is showing an "oil fault" meaning low oil pressure but it connected to the...
If you look at the listing the 11 x 3 manual adjuster is B-Body and the 11 x 3 automatic adjuster is C-Body. B-Body was not offered with auto adjusters. Big question is the difference between the b and c bodies. The must be some difference.
UPDATE: @pnora you were absolutely correct, the lines were reversed. I stared at all of the fittings, looked at "in and out" and was 100% sure I had it right but after switching them it took a second but I got 90 lbs of oil pressure!!
THANK YOU to everyone who chimed in and offered suggesting's...
I will try the scrubbing bubbles next time if there’s a color change. The good news is this top is not sun faded. It was just 35+ years of dirt. I went over it twice with simple green and then again with Murphy’s oil soap. Both with the power brush.
Thanks
Pat
I placed an order mid July 2024 with a reputable vendor, paid for it and waited patiently. At the time I ordered I was quoted a 4 month lead time. Today the order showed up, 7 months later. What I received was not what I ordered. The vendor was closed for the day so I sent a firm but polite...
Nice Pat! I've found, after 35 years, the best cleaner for a top is "Scrubbing Bubbles" shower cleaner. No matter what I used previously it always went back to gray looking. I cleaned the Bird top for the Aero Reunion in 2019 with scrubbing bubbles and it's still as Black as the day I did so.
Curious as to how a guy makes sure all the moisture, be it regular water, or salt water, gets out of all the overlapping metal joints on a car like this so it doesn't rust out? Strip it down to a bare shell and bake it in a paint booth?
