If I turn the dist to retard the ign timing, the engine runs hotter. Same engine, same cooling system. Engine is now inefficient, same as when you lower the comp ratio.
The coil &.....the bal res....when used with inductive ign [ which is HEI & Chrys & many others ].
Think of the module, ECU as an electronic switch.
If the coil you are using is designed to be used with a bal res, then it must be used.
...What will we look back upon in a couple of hundred years and regret? I don't think you can answer without getting the thread banned but it's interesting to think about.
Speaking of aromas, I grew to love the smell comprised of burnt rubber/vht/mustard and relish smell from the hot dog stand. That was the smell of Brotherhood raceway park, when I smell something like that it takes me back to a happy time.

I finally got the chance and bought some longer bolts. Plus I noticed that the short bolts were grade 5 while the long bolt was a grade 8.

I tried to "clock" a t-bar wrong. Couldn't do it. The white marks in this pic will line up being in the correct location. It's one flat too high in this picture. Two flats lower the ear would be clear down into the control arm.
