Welcome, and good luck with your project....it'll be a great car. Go ahead and ask away!
Oh, and you get extra points for including pictures on your first post. :)
Welcome, dandelion. It'll be hard to identify a lot of modifications to your engine, aside from obvious bolt ons, without opening it up to measure things.
What sort of drag car is the engine in? We like pictures here. :)
I presume this carb has 4 idle mixture screws? If so, opening the secs is just transferring the problem to the secs.......will still be rich because extra fuel coming from the now exposed sec T slot.
Correct fix is more idle air. Some of these carbs had an adjustable air screw. If not, the...
It could be the alt is on the threshold of charging, ie the alt output voltage needs to be higher than the bat voltage; alt voltage could be changing/varying slightly at this changeover point, which could explain why the problem goes away with more rpm which will increase alt output.
If this is...
I see the prods are not parallel, intake is offset. That is probably putting some side force on the link bar. There is not much metal above & below the slot in the link bar, & that is where the failure occurred. Could the failure have been caused by flexing due to the prod being at an angle?
Thread revival - I just bought the Spectra one also and it is a very tight fit with the oil fill hole in my cast aluminum Mopar valve covers. I thought you meant it seals tight, but it is actually difficult to insert into the hole before twisting tight. At first I thought it didn't fit at all...

I had a 1961 Dodge Phoenix. My friend had a 1962 Dodge Phoenix, first year of the 'unibody'. Both were 4 door pillared cars. We both had 440s with alum TFs. We weighed our cars same day, one after the other. My 61 was 400 lb heavier.
Hi everyone,
I recently acquired a drag car with a mystery 440 in it. The car had "10.90" in grease paint still on the window when I bought it, so I'm guessing the motor is pretty hot! All I really know is that it previously ran on Sunoco 110 fuel, and that it may have been bored out to a...
Unfortunately they are out of them. We I saw the recent posting when @dadsbee sold his one to a fellow member I realised that it was the exact date coded one I need for my early build 1970 Coronet Convertible. (319). So I remembered that ECS were stamping them and checked, but they are now all gone.
It's true, part of a good metal/ body restoration is , seeing how the trim fits, and making sure it fits when done before wrecking a painted car that the trim doesn't fit now.
If that makes sense. There's a fair bit of skill and experience involved.
