Yes I recall going a few years on the same set of cork valve cover gaskets. Off and on numerous times for valve lash check, finally replaced them because of age, not leaking.
Speaking of gaskets. I run a deeper 518 stamped steel pan on my 727. I read that some guys were using the Moroso...
Installed the Moroso 93110 Trans pan gasket yesterday using the stamped steel 518 pan. Perfect seal and fit.
Thanks both SC440 and AR67GTX for your input. This gasket will undoubtedly be re-usable during routine oil and filter changes during the season.
I tried a set of these on Indy valve covers. Sealed perfectly. Covers have been off for valve lash check several times and re-used and all good.
From 440 source.
Thanks for the input 451. Yes the 1/0 cable is still the existing cable from when the car was street/strip and ran a 140 amp alternator. The 1/0 remains, saves the expense of purchasing smaller cable and the additional weight is not an issue. The black 1/0 runs to an inside stud which feeds...
How about this.
1 G red leads to trunk batteries
1 G black leads to starter
10 G red leads to starter sol.post
12 G blue leads to Bosch relay
Most solenoids are rated at 80 amps. This reduces the cranking amps through the solenoid.
Not sure where that missing time got to on your set up. I haven’t re-read the post but a bad converter sure can eat up lots.
Over the winter I freshened my engine, needed a different block due to finding a main web crack. Anyways, my season started off slow too after the freshening, 60 some...
I installed one on my parts chaser 10 years ago. Never an issue since. Prior to that I had chewed up a brass gear on the solid billet camshaft and that’s why I switched.
I’ve been racing there for 6 years now and there’s been no photo of my ride in front of the board yet.. :) I thought maybe Saturday but never got past the 4th round. I have to settle for a poster for now. You were close yesterday Wooks. Hurtingly close.
That is quite a list. Having travelled that list a few things come to mind now as I look back.
The low gear set: I noticed the difference the first time I rolled ahead in 1st gear. It sure made a difference on my 505 combo. Having said that, lots of times guys will go back to the standard...
A step back. Well, the single carb combo was a definite increase for you. Another check on locating/removing unnecessary weight will pay off. With your weight of car and 505 have you considered a low gear set? It was a game changer for me. That and when I switched from the 9” converter to...
Holy crap that had to be quite a tough read but thanks! Yeah there sure is a lot more to this sport than a guy thinks. I’m thankful for all the help and support from all those here in FBBO over the years.
My 505 is 12.7CR. The cam is Comp solid roller custom grind with some numbers that I...
I’ve experienced no change with or without the air cleaner in the past. Just threw it out there as it came to mind when reading your post. Nice to see it’s working good now.
Very nice. I recall that’s about where a guy figured the HP would be.
I sure got a surprise on air filter restriction. Went from a 10.14 to a 9.90 pass with the removal of the air filter.
