I had the same issue and tried a /6 cable. Way too long. I then ordered a cable from summit, which was the length I needed, but was junk as it had plastic cable sheath ends. I ended up using various components and a swage tool to terminate the cable. Worked out great, buy what a pita.

I had to recrimp my new harness after I found some loose terminations. I think it was from year one. Otherwise happy with the fit and quality. I also rewired it for a larger capacity alternator and changes to my ignition system.
