No longer selling parts here

I have been selling Real estate for 28 years,,,, and I average 13 tire kickers for one real Buyer.it is just a part of the selling business. I don't get offended when they don't call or come back. that is just how it is.
I have been selling mopar parts since 1980, and the car stuff is no different than the house stuff. I don't take it personally, and i just keep moving.

There are jerks in the world, wether they are buying cars or Furniture or whatever.

Sellers can suck too..
A month ago my son in law told me about a guy with a huge stash of hubcaps, my son in law told him I may call If I am looking for a set. after three days he started calling my son in law, harassing him, and texting me saying I was a big jerk because i did not follow up with him. I told him in no uncertain terms that IF I wanted a cap I would call. He said that any decent guy would call and dicker. I told him If he was the last hubcap guy on earth I would not call him. He had never talked to me, and did not know me from adam. This was a facebook guy.

so there are lousy buyers out there, and lousy sellers out there.

I don't have a dog in this fight really as I don't or haven't bought much at all on here or any forum. The one or 2 times I have, it has gone pretty well overall but I have watched a lot of back and forth here and elsewhere with a degree of amusement and entertainment.

I don't know the OP at all and I am sure he is a fine gentlemen, but to come on here and complain how he is "done" seems to be soliciting some degree of sympathy and I will have to say up front that my initial reaction was encapsulated by the "bye" meme. I mean, if you feel this way they just stop selling stuff, no need to create a thread about it. It makes me think that the OP is trying to guilt someone into something. Look, people on these forums are just people, some good, some not so much, but that is life. There is no expectation of "goodness" just because you are dealing with somewhat like minded people (Mopar people).

Sales are a 2 way street filled with mine fields and pitfalls. Some people are looking for a steal others perfection. One man's "perfect condition" is another's "completely trashed". There are 2 sides to every story and when it comes to cars, more often than not things do not come together as all parties wish. This is why I tend to purchase new more than anything else, if I do buy "used" I know going in that there is a chance (usually a good chance) that I am not going to get what I am seeing in my head. We all have obtained used stuff that the seller swore was "perfect" yet turned out to be junk. I might use parts you would not dream of putting on your car and the other way around.

As to the "insensitivity", well sack up and move on. If someone wants to come on here and cry about something as trivial as this then he/she should expect some push back, or better said some people who do not share the emotion. Now, on the other hand if this is just someone venting and expressing his displeasure, its all good but it could/should have been presented in another way. Just saying.

selling is a tough business, no matter what the product is. A thick skin is required.

I have a thick skin, but a humerous thing happened on the site where I had a 67 chrysler for sale for five years,,, everybody loved it, but nobody would buy it, and it was Inexpensive. One day a gentleman from overseas heard I had it and offered to pay twice what I was asking for it in the states. Once my friends on the site heard I sold it overseas, I was disowned. I guess it is ok for the car to sit in my garage for 15 years and live with it, I suppose that what my job. well, The car is gone, at twice the asking price, and I don't miss those friends either.
So there are some here that are offended that foreigners buy American cars and remove them from the country.
But The way I see it, at least somebody appreciates the car and drives it!

Exactly.... Guys are hating on Stanton but IMO he's spot on.... Do I want to lose sellers? No! But if you don't want to deal with the drama just quit selling, don't waste time creating more drama....

I buy and sell some things here. Mostly good deals both ways. Yes there are tire kickers/window shoppers. It is frustrating at times. I think I have pretty fair prices. But I can tell by the number of replies if my price is decent or not. U have to take the bad with the good. I’m from Canada so shipping sometimes plays a big part in the deal. I have 10 or so parts boxed up and ready to go to members that just had to have them. I have their complete addy also. They have my pay pal. Then nothing. I message them. I give them a few days to reply. Then I look at the bottom of the conversation and see that they read my reply but didn’t respond back either way to let me know if they want it or not. Then I don’t sell to them ever again. I don’t have an ignore list made up yet but it looks like it’s time to start 1. Kim

Rule number1 in sales:
If a product is not selling, either the price is too high, or demand is too low. easy as that!

Over the last few months I've been selling off my stash of parts on the forum. At least 10 transactions. No problem with a single one. Communication is key. Most buyers on the forum are serious. They're a targeted market for a specific group of products. If you stop selling here, you just limit your customer base.

This is right on !
Some times non popular Stuff and expensive stuff sits .I sell alot I Know what sells and what sits . I don't like holding stuff I rather it go to it's new home I tend to find if I hold stuff it gets broken lost or trashed!
I go by what I was told if your making money sell it don't be greedy. If I make $10 or $100 it's better then nothing and having to store parts is not good for sales as they rarely see the light of day again once they get stored

Maybe if someone is upset about a buyer or seller not communicating, it could be the buyer or seller is incapacitated or incarcerated. I’m selling off my Lego collection I have to support my car resto. I had a teenager buy a set, didn’t hear nothing for a month. Come to find out, he was in the hospital with Covid-19. You never know peoples circumstances.

On the flip side, my last try at buying parts on here was disappointing with the seller making up a flimsy excuse and returning my money for the 64 4 speed tranny. Obviously got a better offer after taking my money, which was his asking price. I don't bother trying to buy parts here anymore. I find many are not willing to ship things north anyway.
I understand not wanting to ship over the border, though I've not had any trouble shipping items south, but I was going to pick up the transmission and was in the midst of preparing for the trip.

I've had nothing but good transactions here. Everyone has paid quickly when I have sold and people have shipped quick when I have bought.

What do you mean by "F'd around?" There are a few dealings where I ask for better pictures and either don't get them or get more pictures of the same bad quality. I just don't buy the parts. I've asked for pricing and condition of parts and if there isn't a picture included or a lack of enthusiasm to sell, I pass.

"I don't have a dog in this fight" yet you write a 2 paragraph digression on the topic...
Good grief

no problem here buying, haven't sold on here but have on facebook marketplace talk about tire kickers and people wanting 200 pictures and then no response.

Lol kim I feel you we have a growing pile of boxes never to be shipped. I still have one from 2013 and the "buyer" is still an active member.

Ah my packed box's that don't go usually go fairly soon I just mark what's in them and re list only thing I had to unpack was two steering columns I think shipping scared this dude away (I told him) but they sold locally so no big deal there !
When you deal with known members it's alot easier !

I will say that there does seem to be this idea that if you ask about an item or express interest in it that you are committed to buying it. I've seen this play out a number of times here and elsewhere. This is especially true if you attempt to negotiate a lower price, do that and you are expected to purchase. I guess you could argue that you should not attempt to negotiate if you are not going to buy but in the end if the buyer doesn't want it or want to spend that money they are going to walk.
