Dang it, I didn't make myself clear.
I had the vibration before swapping the 727 auto to the TKX manual. I was hoping it would be resolved but it's still there.
I'm starting to think there's nothing I can do about it but pull the 383 and rebuild the original 400 as an internally balanced...
I have an unknown harmonic damper, a '71 383 cast crank (external balanced), and a neutral balance flywheel. The vibration is terrible.
How do I fix it? Or better yet, can I fix it?
I bought a Professional Products PowerForce harmonic damper from Mancini Racing that will be here in a few...
I bought a second Charger for $5500. I took the seats, wheels, hood, interior panels, and swapped them with one from the 1st Charger. The 2nd Charger had no brakes, rear axles bearings was shot, spindles were gone, and the 727 pan gasket was leaking, so I swapped those part from the 1st...
The 727 finally died. I broke the torque converter back in 2018 racing a 2018 Dodge Charger 392. The torque converter beat the snot out of the input bushing which finally lead to a EPA super-fund site in my garage. Not really, but the oil slick was 14 feet long and a foot wide.
So, I'm...
Why is it always agree or you're just dumb?
Maybe some people (like the entire automotive industry) understand exactly how the old charging system work and realized its not ideal. Maybe they realized (about 40 years ago) that an ammeter has no place in a vehicle. Maybe smart folks figured the...
Thank you. Someone finally agrees with me!
I rewired the heck out of my car for the EFI upgrade. Even wired the headlights as a ground trigger. That was a fun little project to figure out! Not much is left of the original Year One engine harness. I have a 220 AMP alternator that runs...
Here's the deal. You guys are missing the context.
This all got started way back when because I recommended the best way to install a large alternator and large battery would be to completely by-pass the ammeter. And that started a $#!+ storm from old timers that think ammeters are the best...
This again? Ok. Name one modern car that uses an ammeter. Can't? That's because not one vehicle made in the last 30 years or so that had an ammeter. Chevy dumped the ammeter in the 60's. Ford in 70's. Chrysler used them into the 80's. It's old tech.
So, it's not my methodology "only way...
That's incorrect. The alternator belt won't clear the water pump bolts. Shredded a belt trying this. The pulleys must be replaced.
However, you can run the alternator directly off the crank pulley, IF you drop the alternator down to change the angle of the belt, and there are brackets to do that.
I did this. You can do this in two methods.
If you got deep pockets, you can get a complete kit from CVF Racing.
If you want to keep it stock looking, here's what you need.
1) Two Groove Crankpulley
2) Water Pump Pulley
Don't mess with used pulleys. Chrysler used so many different sized...
