Its probably not something muscle car hobbyist are worried about but myself, as a licensed tech in a licensed garage, I can tell you guys 100% most shops check for purity before servicing A/C, and on a regular basis, we find contaminated systems from people using these "autoparts blend cans"...
Alright
Great discussion eh ! So far I have searched twice for this illusive wing nut to no avail. I hope its only $3.00. I kill eventually find it and update here
Thanks
If I can ask you, what type of air cleaner is on that Hurst 300?
Would anyone know if the chrome top I have is original to something? Or was it custom? I can tell you it weighs a ton.
Honest answer, I did look for it yesterday and it was not where I thought it would be ...
I sold most of my cars a couple years back and have been cleaning and selling off parts since. Every winter I clean up my mezzanine so I am due to get on my hands and knees and look for that bugger. I know...
Oh I get it, I could right a sad list of cars I had/lost
Early 80's, my neighbor had a 69 Charger 4 speed car, he wanted $1800 I offered him $800, he came back at $1200, and I walked away. Still kicking myself.
The wing nut is connected to the ~~~~ threaded bar
The threaded bar is connected to the ~~~~ carburator
The carberator is covered by the ~~~ air cleaner
Sing it with me now :)
So the air cleaner is not the correct one? I am disappointed, this intake was removed in the early 80's from the (supposedly) original car, wrapped and stored ...
I have a bunch of pictures but I think these are the important ones. Google still says its a A12. I don't see anything that would resemble a date code. What do you guys think?
Wow thanks everyone for the insite.
I sold my 69 SuperBee a couple years ago, and it had the N96 air grabber option, so I understand what it means - my car had no relation to this intake. When I googled the numbers on this intake a few years ago, it came back as a "A12" option. So I just...
The solid one looks exactly what I remember... but I am older then dirt and my memory is not what it was.
I appreciate your help, I need to get this intake assembly properly identified.
Yes, I guess I should have been clearer. The stud puctured is not the original as it did not have a wingnut when I got the assembly (as pictured) and was obvious to me its a threaded rod. It was the other one that is not shown that I know was there before - guilty as charged, I took it off a...
Is the one pictured on your setup an original ? It looks like the wingnut is not solid metal but more like it is made from flaged metal, did I see that correctly ?
Thanks
Hi people
I have been back at cleaning my storage space and noticed I am missing a wingnut on my 6pack.
My question for you guys that know these A12 better then me, how important to a restorer to have the original wing nuts? Are reproduction wing nuts as good to a uber picky owner? Should I...
Funny enough, the first thing I did was google the numbers. The first page I opened came up with a 1969 383 4v which made sense as that what my 69 Bee came with. I have found more reliable pages like the one you linked.
I was more concerned about the rarity of the rad. I have seen some post in...
I would agree with that - I've owned my garage for over 30 years - I would not consider using this rad as is. Problem we are facing hear is less and less rad shops and even less that can weld/unweld a rad core. Maybe a rad shop for HD truck rads, I think they still can.
