we went to take this out today.
the vintage air unit is here too.
we already removed the heater core part of the box with your help.
the new unit fits right up there easily without removing the ac sode of the box.
i just need to make an aluminum plate with 4 holes to go over the studs which...
we will be doing this on the weekend.are these the steps in order we should do?
are some of these things only visible once the box is off the firewall?
curious why the seat should come out?
we just put a bench seat in that came with the car.
he said it was a coronet bench but it definitely was not.
we have it back all the way and my son fits in that space between but i sure dont!
thanks to all of your help we got the inside front of the heater box out.
it was way worse than the charger vid i posted.
the core looks very bad and the h pipe doesnt look too good either.
for us this will cost too much to replace .
we dont care about the ac and have decided to put a vintage...
the vintage air aftermarket one looks nice and has good reviews.it has the defrost function too which we would want.
i would just make a flat plate to cover what we removed and maybe bolt the aftermarket one to it.
i got a phone quote from the guy you all recommended for 750ish to rebuild just...
took us 4 hrs to get just the heater core section out .
the wagon seems to have extra stuff bolted to it than the ones ive seen vids on.
theres a lot more than 4 bolts and just that linkage too before it can be removed.
there are several hard to reach straps supporting it too.
ill pressurize it...
in a pinch would it technically work if you were to route the coolant lines into the ac lines if you werent ever going to use the ac anyway? asking for a friend:rolleyes:
so ours id different than this 68 charger?he seems to get to the heater core pretty quickly.
when i look up the core # it states its used on the charger too.
i dont care about the condensor at all.
i just need the heater core working.
i did call glen ray.
he said it could be many things inside the housing including rubber hoses and an h valve.
he did not know how to remove the heater core and thought that the windshield would need to be removed which...
i think im going to try doing it this way.
it started leaking so badly so quickly that im thinking that maybe its the rubber hose inside.
if thats just it maybe i can buy some time.
i just watched a youtube vid of someone removing the heater core from a 68 charger.
he didnt remove the whole box.
he onbolted the face from inside the car and the core was right there.
the ac condensor was farther in .is ours just like that?
wow the ac heater core is 430 bux.
i can only find it at classic industries.
if im not ever going to use the ac do i still need to get the ac core?
will the non ac one fit in there too?
