heater core replacement 67 coronet wagon

Here is one removed. No way to access the heater core without removing. This one is from a 67 Belvedere II.

AC and non AC heater cores are very different shape and size, they don't interchange.

Yes the box splits on half. I don't think it is very easy to do in the car. You could remove your box and see what's inside, it may be an easy fix. You can open the dash vent door and see inside some, but it may not be enough.

If core is bad you could put a patch on the AC firewall and put in just a heater only box from another 66-70 B body. You will need to patch over the big hole for blower motor and for the ac lines, and heater hoses are in a different place.

so ours id different than this 68 charger?he seems to get to the heater core pretty quickly.
when i look up the core # it states its used on the charger too.

Great video, shows you some things you don't want to duplicate.

Yes it the same as your 67. The coronet glove box is uphigher than the charger so the access and visibility is different.

Don't take the linkage apart, unbolt the vacuum diaphragm and take it all out with the box. Don't take apart that "window" he calls it. It's just not necessary and try getting all that back together and working again.

It is doable like the video, but not as easy as it looks.

I replaced the heater core in my factory AC 67 and did not remove the box - did it in the car. It was 20 years ago and I don’t remember the details but I sure didn’t want to discharge my AC if I didn’t have too. Stripped out the console and pass seat I’m sure but otherwise did all the work up under the dash.
