1970 Plymouth GTX ,
Making room for a new project. Selling my 1970 GTX, Hurst 4 speed pistol grip, trac pack, Rally Red with Air Grabber N96 hood, longitudinal strips, Go wing and black Vinyl top. U code car with Hooker headers dropping down to 2.5 inch custom exhaust with the proper tips...
By lag I mean at 1/4 tank of fuel the gauge shows empty. The gauge shows E mark at 60 ohms, all the way down on the sending unit is 80 ohms , so it doesn't start to read for about an inch and a half of fuel.
So I bent the rod until it cant go below 60 ohms, not pretty but should work.
New sending unit has the same resistance as first unit. Which makes the gauge lag the sending unit. Is there a way to adjust my new OER gauge ??
Making some calls as soon as they open
Yep have a new sending unit coming and will put it back together in stages, but still need to get gauge and sending unit to match. Nothing worse than a inaccurate gas gauge
Installed voltage limiter in test circuit, works perfect at 5 volts. All other gauges are working properly. After cycling float with gauge hooked up many times, can see how gauge lags the float level and seems to be more inaccurate below half tank. Thinking the float is not matched to the gauge...
Pulled sending unit and wired directly to gauge
Sending unit runs from 75 ohms (empty) to 11 ohms (full)
Gauge unit runs from 66 ohms (empty) to 11 ohms (7/8)
Don't get to E mark on the gauge until I get 66 ohms
So, do I look for a different Sending unit? I need to lower the resistance...
1) Tested gas gauge, seems to work fine, goes up and down as I change the voltage
2) Rather new voltage regulator. 5 volt output.
And thinking to replace the circuit board while I'm here but don't think that is the problem
Brand new gauge bad ?
If I get the gauge to sweep it should be good ???
Pulling gas gauge out of cluster and wiring it independently
5 volts , ground , tank wire
What could go wrong, will report back
Fuel Gauge Guru's
Fuel gauge still not work
New Gauge and sending unit installed, wire's metered and ohmed , we grounded the grounds front and back
All other gauges seem to be working. Getting 64 ohms off tank, when the gauge is grounded it sweeps as it should, 5 volts on circuit board

Making a plan to come check this show out. Can I get some feedback on which hotel / part of town Mopars are hanging out? Looking at beach side of Raceway, don't know the area, yet ...
Thanks -L-
going to jump in here. 70 GTX
Currently working on same problem. I don't have a stop bumper on brake pedal, but can adjust length by running switch up or down on its threaded housing. Looks like there are 2 different wiring set ups. Mine is same as Kern Dog pic's. Has an open set of contacts...
Update
Gray wire Clock
+ 12 power in run
S neg side of coil
Have not had a chance to start car, still have to many other things apart. Will update the update when we get it running. Trending positively Thanks all
Cool on the wiring diagram but looking at the back of the (service manual) tack, it does not match up with the aftermarket tac. new pic shows gray wire coming out of Tach
Wiring harness >gray mates up to gray wire, Blue seems to fit the + terminal
Agree on S being Signal but wonder if this is...
Installing OER tach in 70 GTX. Have tach, a little light on instructions. Just want to be sure on connections
Gray wire out the side to negative side of coil
+ 12 volt source in run or hot all the time ??
G ground / mounting screws , leave alone
S not sure ???
1) Is the + term for...
