I probably wasn't clear. The electrician just put a plug where I wanted it and ran 8 ga. to the plug. In conversation he mentioned that some people fail to run large enough wire which he said could be bad for the motor. The part about not running a plug at all came from websites/instructions...

That looks like what is on my 68 pictured above. I didn't recall the plate with the two holes for the safety chains so I just went out and looked. It is there, just beneath and behind the bumper. Wonder if it was a Mopar accessory or aftermarket.

Yes, they do take the earth's curvature into consideration if the building is long enough, which admittedly is rare. Look it up. If you want a shortcut, look up Linear Accelerators or the International Linear Collider.

Not sure about the Midgets, but on the MG B models when they added the rubber bumpers, they also had to raise ride height to comply with the new bumper laws. I only owned early MGB's so I can't say if it had much of an effect on handling or not, but I bet it didn't improve it any.
