My motivation to restore comes from love. Love easily distracted by the love of a woman, but I digress. If I don't love the car, I got no motivation to restore it. But that love can drive me to do some oddball things, like spending over an hour to clean this upper control arm and ball joint...
How long has it sat between driving it? I'm probably using the same gas as you, in Santa Rosa. I buy from Costco, and even sitting for a 9-10 months, this doesn't happen to me. Which type of carb? A Carter, you can pull the top off with it still on the manifold, and observe fuel level...
Try starting and idling in neutral until the engine warms up, then shut her off and wait. Wait to see if it's driving that makes it leak, or simply running. Also, just because the shop says they replaced the seal at the yoke, at the very end of the tail housing, doesn't mean they did it...
Is there any chance the wires are not hooked to the correct pins on the switch? The center pin is the neutral switch (to ground) and the outer pins activate the back up lights. Pull the plug and the back lights should go off. You can test the wiring without the switch by jumpering the outer...
A leak when sitting for a time could be oil pan gasket. Next time you're under there, clean everything up using some brake cleaner, to make it super clean. When/if the puddle returns, crawl under again and look for signs of wet oil seepage at the cooler line fitting, oil pan gasket, etc, etc...
This could be the transmission.
One example: I recently read the line pressure, the internal hydraulic pressure, is greater for operating in reverse, than it is moving forward.
You could have low transmission fluid levels, a poorly adjusted throttle pressure linkage, or a worn out...
My garage is too narrow to really work in. A single-car width with shelving down one side, means I'm walking sideways just to check the mail slot. But I don't want my car exposed to scrutiny, so projects in the driveway are often limited to those I can complete in a day.
Don't worry about your FS/WTB ads getting locked. If I came across your FS ad, and I wanted the part, or had a part to sell you for your WTB ad, there is nothing stopping me from reaching out via PM and letting you know. In fact, many deals are negotiated and closed via PM without nary a sign...
What's this counter weight all about on this rear drum? It seems like a sizable weight just to balance the drum as the drum seems so symmetrical.
Does it balance anything with the 8-3/4 rear end? I find that hard to believe, because if so, it could be put back on in the wrong orientation and...
Presuming this very bracket was bolted in place, with the same intake and carburetor before servicing, it may be safe to presume you can get this to work just fine, without a bunch of uncertainty and swapping parts.
If you're hoping the bracket will fall back in to place, while the throttle...
you MAY need to lengthen the rod, if you cannot adjust it so it pulls the pressure lever on the transmission all the way forward, as discussed by the adjustment procedure in the manual.
it may destroy the coating, but heating it and bending it the way you want is an option. a more costly option is having another one fabricated to your specifications... followed by a fee to apply the coating.
it's my opinion the sunroof would definitely be on the body code plate. if I wanted to add a sunroof, later in a car's life, I would favor a factory setup, and take every care to make it look original.
some nice ones were done by the dealer, also, back in the day.
original or not, yours looks...
Google suggests stored lead acid batteries lose about 5% of their charge per month. More in warmer climates. If you have clocks and automotive electronics running off the battery as it's stored, the loss will be greater so disconnecting them is a good idea.
While I cannot comment on the newer...
