If this is going to be a one time thing for you go to your auto parts store and rent the tools to do the job. oreillys rents tools and i think it is free....... it will save you some cash......
I don't know if anyone mentioned this but i would check for a vacumm leak on the carb. or intake, I had the same problem one time and the brake booster hose was off on the back of the carb. it feel off when the engine poped threw the carb. I had the glowing headers and all. Check all the hoses...
