I have extra tach sending unit housings. That tach board needs to be calibrated to your tach. From the (RTE) factory, the calibration points are set way too low.
My contact info is at www.thegaugedoc.com>
Thanks,

The normal color for the EL is a greenish color. The needles are painted with an orange translucent paint. If the paint was stripped off, the needles would be green as well.
You are looking at one of the nicest SSP's I have ever seen (That's why I bought it originally). 68K thought to be original miles.
Numbers matching 318 with 904 slap stick auto. Factory AC (blows cold), PS, PB front disc brakes. Rallye Red with black vinyl roof in excellent shape. New exhaust...
The needles use the same phosphorus coating as the gauge faces. They are extremely hard to rebuild. I have about a 75 percent success rate. Luckily I also have many spares,. Feel free to call or email, contact info is on my website, www.thegaugedoc.com.
If yours is a 66, the tach sending unit mounts to the forward dash frame under the glovebox. Most likely the board went bad. I install the new RTE solid state tach boards. The old ones were 1950’s technology….and the fix is a new tach board. It has to be calibrated to your tach to read correctly.
OK, so I used a bit of ingenuity and used some plastic wiper bushings from a Dorman wiper bushing kit I found at AutoZone. There are three bushings that needed replacing (actually there were no bushings left) so I had to buy two kits as there are only two of them that fit correctly in each kit...
Hello,
My 72 SSP is missing the wiper linkage bushings for both sides. Does anyone have a picture of what these bushings look like installed? The bushings I see for sale on Ebay don't look like they can fit correctly, as there is a large flat washer and circlip that goes over the mounting post...
My passenger side wiper pivot is shot. I'm trying to figure out how to get at it. I'm thinking I have to pull the wiper motor so I can get the linkage to move to the open area in the cowl where I can get at it. Also, anyone know where I could get the push pin clips for this cowl cover? Drivers...
I restore the instrument clusters in the first gen Chargers and have owned half a dozen of them at one time or another. If you really want to sell a first generation Charger, I'd get some good quality pictures of the exterior, interior and engine compartment. Two big things: do the headlights...
The tach sending unit bracket mounts to the forward edge of the dash frame under the glovebox. It sits right next to the EL powerpack bracket. Once you remove the glovebox it will be easy to see where they mount.
Thanks,
Mark
The tach sending unit ground is the bracket attached to the dash frame. The sending unit will ground to the bracket with the two mounting screws attaching the sending unit to the bracket.
Thanks,
Mark
I’m looking for this plastic clip that looks like it might hold the washer hose to the firewall. It snaps into a hole in the firewall on the passenger side near the top of the cowl. Can’t seem to find it online and it’s not part of the underhood trim clip package. It looks like part of it has...
66 tach uses a separate sending unit under the glovebox on the forward dash frame. 67 tach board is mounted inside the tach and is the same board used in other A and B body Mopars from 67-74. Real Time Engineering makes outstanding electronic solid state replacements. They are the only boards I...
If you ever decide to upgrade your factory radio, SM Electrotech in MN does excellent work. I sent them my original AM radio and they converted it to AM/FM Stereo. They also know to leave the EL lighting alone. Great folks to work with...Ive repaired the EL in several of my gauge rebuild...
Hi,
I have a small business rebuilding the instrument clusters in the First Gen Chargers, www.thegaugedoc.com. I've done well over 600 dash restorations in the 10 plus years I've had my business open, about 90 percent have been 66/67 Chargers. To answer a couple of you questions:
The dash can...
The correct nichrome wire is not readily available. However there are several people on here that can rebuild your thermal gauges. And if the fuel gauge wire is black, most probably the oil press and temp gauges are as well Visit my website for more info, www.thegaugedoc.com
