Didn't this movie come out in 68 That would make it 47 years
Man, your post brought back some memories. I went to Sheppard for tech school in '66 and I'll never forget how good that first Lone Star beer tasted when I got the chance to duck out to the Airman's Club. Some things you never forget.October 68', but the thought is what counts.
October 22 1970, I got off the bus from USAF basic training from Lackland, and arrived Sheppard AFB. A Friday, right in front of the Airman's club, and the Movie theater across the street. I looked up, and Bullitt was playing. So, after a few well earned beers, and listening to "Black Majic Woman" on the Juke box, I went and watched Bullitt. As many here are veterans, we always remember that first day out of that, and Bullitt is part of mine. I drive a 68' Charger to this day.
I remember the movie well. there was an article in the old saturday evening post about that movie. the charger was bought off the showroom floor, bone stock. steve mcqeen built the mustang or oversaw all of it, he drove the scenes, or most of them. seems like 'all" to my recollection. he was a car nut from day one and quite a racer. no one, (including steve), could believe that the charger would out run his hand built mustang. it`s very apparent in the straight aways that the charger would catch him easily !-----true story, read it setting in the dentist office-back then. no brag-just fact!
A little bit more to the right ...then Left ....
