I am purchasing a 10 point roll cage this weekend & a NHRA rule book. I am going to put this in my street/strip 1969 Dodge Coronet.

Anyone of you that have done this, could you please give me some advice, tips, and pictures? It will be most appreciated.

I will post pictures as I come along.

Thanks!

How fast are you planning on going? What does it currently run? Up to 10.00 in the 1/4 with stock firewall and floors, you only need a six point bar. 10point gets you to 8.50

I'll post pics later. The best thing I did was remove 1 square foot sections of the floor. Add the kickers to the rockers. Tack everything. Remove the tacks at the kickers. Drop the cage down through the floor. Weld the top bars. Raise it back up and reinstall the kickers. Trim the floor to fit and weld it back in.

Doug,
I'd like to see some shots of what you did with the down bars coming along the A-pillars by the windshield. Most cages that I see in B-bodies don't get these bars tight enough for my liking. I'm doing an SFI25.3 chassis in 70RR and plan on running these bars through the dash and tight to the pillars.

Doug,
Very nice work. Was that a cage kit or custom done?

I did it myself. I looked at other cars and took the features i liked best. Made templates out of PVC and brake line and had my friend bend the tubes. Then just took my time fitting the joints. This is my first cage. Had a friend of my son tig it. Its chrome moly.

It looks great. The 25.3 that I'm doing will be all moly as well. It will be my first cage also.
