10” front drum brake primary spring

I haven’t done front drum brakes in about 15 years, doing them on a ‘68 Satellite. The kit I got is the newer adjuster setup, ‘69 up. I’m OK with that but... It has 2 secondary springs, (longer) so I was going to reuse the original primary (shorter). But the shoes have a much bigger hole where the original primary spring would go. So I can’t use that. Do they want you to use two longer springs? And connect to the lower hole, like the secondary?

Neither factory picture shows that. Maybe the shoes I got aren’t the right ones. Has anyone dealt with this issue? Thanks!

You need 2 long springs, those shoes are the newer type with those oblong holes for the park brake lever instead of round. 1970 still had the round hole.

Thank you! I wasn’t sure. I did see that on the 11” drums. I haven’t worked on 11” since the 80’s. :D

Wow. This doesn’t look like any of the factory pix I have. I’m not sure where the green spring on the bottom goes to.

I think I read not to deal with Jim’s Auto Parts. I bought this kit 2 years ago, and I’m finally getting around to doing the job. It had labeled left front and right front on the parts bag. But this isn’t like the ‘70 setup. I don’t have a ‘72 FSM, so I’m not sure where the lower spring attachment point is.
 
It looks like there should be a hole by the pin.

It looks like these are the shoes this “kit” should have. Has anyone else run into this? I guess I have to drill a hole. Or do I have the wrong spring? Not sure. No pix on the internet show the stuff they sent me.

Looks like Jim’s Auto Parts just thru a bunch of unmatched **** into a box when I ordered the kit from them. It looks like I need these springs.

The ones he sent me mount in holes that aren’t in the shoes. I could drill a hole, but I don’t have an FSM that shows where to put it. Oh well... live and learn. I won’t deal with that guy again.
