Congratulations!

I can retire in September of 2025 at age 58.

I don't plan to work one day past.

I have so many projects across multiple hobbies and side businesses that I'll be able to actually concentrate on.

F working on someone else's schedule until I physically can't work anymore.

I actually LOVE 90% of what I do, so it's almost like not working....but see the line above.

I always lived by the rule of do what I want in life while I still can. I started way early.
Otherwise, some will work at a job they hate, then retire and die...or just work till they retire and hope they have enough years left and able body to enjoy life.

Working days that is.
Today I called it.
I'm a Journeyman Lineman by trade, and when the call came before last weekend to head to Louisiana for yet another Hurricane response restoration, I said no thanks. I've been on so many storms, it just wasn't in me anymore.
Today was my last day, I called it quits and retired.
I am now officially an old geezer. Immediate plans are to go buy a 74 Buick Centurion and drive 43 mph in the passing lane with my left blinker on wearing those huge sunglasses.

Seriously, it's been a great career, been many places, built countless thousands of miles of powerlines in all voltages. It really is is a young man's game.
Tomorrow will certainly be different.

Actually......i can retire next month.

I recently took a major promotion at work.
And i like to think i can do 2 more years.

But......1 more is most likely .
Then do what i want...when i want to do it.

ALTHOUGH.....i think wife is already making a post retirement honey do list.
So ....said list may factor into my f%*& it date.


BUT......If work pushes the idea this vaccine shot becomes a mandatory requirement.
Said date can be moved up or back as i see fit.

Actually, I ordered a new toy last week. I promised myself that I would never use a wheelbarrow again if I don't have to.
John Deere 1025R w/bucket loader and belly mower. It's a 4wd compact diesel and should be able to keep me busy for a while.

Congrats! I have 1 year 6 months and 0 days until I join that list? (But who is counting?) Using that day? I will have worked 10,220 days at same job location. (Different titles, but same payroll) I will have worked 14,295 days in same industry. Before that? Too hard to calculate. But approximately 16,000 total days.

That's enough I think? Retiring at 62. (All things remaining equal of course.)

I probably could have bought a Hemi for the Roadrunner but this will do.
For now.
Retirement is good so far.

I worked for PNM from 1983 thru 1988. Designed
trucks and equipment in the fleet department.
Linemen have a tough and dangerous job. Glad
you made it thru to retirement.
