I am pretty sure that a 361 4-barrel 305 h.p. engine was the only engine available in the 1962 Sport Fury. At least, that is how it was with Dodge Polara 500 model. Curiously, there were 3 different side chrome treatments available on the Sport Fury over the course of the model year.
I have a 62 American Sport Fury and as far as I know it’s a 383 Golden Command. I’ve never really check i out though! The Canadian model Golden Commando was a 361.
Pretty sure all '62 Sport Fury's were made in U.S. We did not get Canadian built (Windsor) Sport Fury's until after January, 1964. Until then, we were able to order a Canadian Sport Package on our top Plymouth and Dodge models that gave them bucket seats and a "shorty" console ('62 & '63) or regular console ('64). However, this did not make them a Sport Fury or Polara 500.
Right you are Dave about them being built in the US. I have seen a few 64 Canadian sport fury’s. Odd cars! The 62’s could come with a 318 or 361hp. You could order it with any other motor. Talked to an original owner who ordered a 413 3 on the tree SF. A 383hp could be ordered. Not many were, great motor. Most were 361 as this was a late roll out package to try to boost sales. They kept changing the chrome packages for the same reason. Cheers
