1964 glove box terrible fit. bad product?

I ordered one of those rem brand glove boxes its like folded up plastic coated fiberboard from classic industries. the first one they sent fit so bad half of the flat metal nuts were in slightly wrong places, I talked with them on the phone last week and was convinced I received a bad one. they sent another and it still fits like ****. are these just garbage?

If it's any consolation, the one I had for my 70 GTX from Year One, didn't fit exactly correct either.

The sad part is it has a "mopar certified part" sticker on the back. These are so far off its ridiculous. If someone was doing a high dollar restoration they would be pissed.

I think in many cases that the certification is nothing but a license to reproduce....buy the right to make the part only...I would be surprised to see a FCA engineer spec'ing all these parts.

I called one supplier on an older Mopar part, explained the very parts others are selling and is his the same thing. oh no, mine is spot on part with attention to detail...got JUNK generic crap. As most of the times, ended up having to fabricate my own.

Best bet is just try to find a good used one.

So many parts that are supposed to be true just sucks. That's why I dontd get rid of anything until I know for sure it's correct. But at the same time I rebuild stuff I had never done and turns out good.

I'll keep my eyes open for you maybe a good used one will show up. Thinking of making a fiberglass mold out of my old one it will fit better than what I have bought and thru out.

I have 2 glove boxes from my 63 in storage. I could look at them and see what kind of shape they are in. Not sure if you are still looking.

Wasn't sure if they were the same. Too bad. I would have just sent you one if it was in good shape. Now I'm curious how good they are.

On this 64 B-Body glove box, does Classic offer both the AC box and the standard box? There is a difference on the two, so I wonder if they might have sent you the wrong one. Classic must be putting the "Certified Restoration Part" onto the glove boxes as REM does not put the stickers on glove boxes. The 63 year model glove box is very simplistic as compared to the 64 and 65 glove box.

Yes there is an A/C and non A/C style apparently but classic industries told me over the phone they are both identical.

They are not identical for the 64/65 model year.

I also purchased one for my car and it fit terribly. Could barely wriggle it up and in to get it past the defrost vent. What a nightmare. None of the clip nuts wanted to line up, at least initially. I was able to get a few of em started here and there and eventually it kind of pulled itself into position and I got the rest of the screws in.

Sure hope that thing lasts!

You may have gotten a better batch.

I managed to get the first one all the way after a while of fiddling and essentially just having to force in place (as I'm sure you did) and then struggled to get 5 of the 6 screws in place... but that left the last one about 3/8" off.

... I don't feel like settling for that.

Also I have a question: why does is a glove box that you put your hands into put together with the sharp staples that are exposed on the inside?

The one in my '62 is molded. I've seen the folded ones with staples for sale and wondered if they really made them that way from the factory.

Absolute garbage! For the price they charge, it should be a better product for sure! By the way, '63 and '64 are not interchangeable.
