So maybe I am just lacking on the whole research topic but looking through all the parts suppliers for these cars - I don't see anyone selling the foam for the rear seat of the 64 polara -- am i missing it somewhere?

Also - anyone know where to get the small oral trim piece for the front door panel? I am missing just one.

I can’t help with the seat foam question since I’m not that far along yet with my 64’s restoration. I’ve read here though that Legendary has good seat foam for other B body models, maybe they have it for our cars too?

As for the door trim, there were differences between the 64 Polara 500 door trim and the “base” Polara door trim. Which car do you have?

A member here named Mark @moparmarks in Colorado had
base Polara door trim for sale here within the last several months. Send him a PM.....

When I was looking for seat foam for the rear seat of my 68 Coronet, I couldn’t find any anywhere. I ended up going to a store that sells foam, picked the thickness that I thought would work well, Cut it to the size of the seat, put on the new skins, and it came out fantastic. Classic industries sells a couple of different universal kits. One includes one and a half inch foam, Cotton roll, burlap, listing wire and Muslim for $212. They claim it’ll fit 62 through 74 A, B , or E bodies. For $60 they sell just the foam.

I am going through the same thing on my 500 and i wonder if the front buckets would work for the majority of the back with a piece inbetween.

I would be very doubtful that would be a good solution. Bucket seat foam is usually molded and irregularly shaped, while the backseat is flat and rectangular

The Polara 500 door trim is apparently pretty hard to come by these days. Another member from NJ has been looking too for quite sometime.

It still won’t hurt to reach out to Mark and let him know what you’re looking for. You can also create a WTB post here on the site and maybe one of the members can help you. Suggest you post pics of what you need since photos always help.... Good luck.

The polara 500 is like buckets with pieces of foam inbetween them not flat.

For my '64 I designed and sewed my own interior... Started with burlap over the springs to protect the foam.

For the bottom seat I used two layers of 2" foam glued together with 3M 77 spray adhesive and cut to shape. Used my wife's electric kitchen knife for that..... don't tell her.

Then I made custom design patterns and sewed up the upholstery.

The material was a vinyl "faux leather" I purchased on line and was color matched to the dash color.

Once the basic cover was completed I used a liberal amount of "hog rings" to complete the installation over the foam.

The back of the seat is a bit different in that it uses one layer of 2" foam and a couple layers of cotton batting over the foam. You can find Legendary's videos on YouTube that show this process. Their video is on doing a '69 Charger so that's what you need to search for.

The buckets were done using an inexpensive foam kit from Classic Industries. The upholstery was done the same way as the rear bottom seat. Door panels were done matching the diamond design on the seats with custom embroidered "Casper" which is the name of the car. I did that on my wife's custom embroidery machine.

Never did upholstery before and never even used a sewing machine before this. I think it came out pretty nice, if I do say so myself. Cost was about half what Legendary wanted just for the upholstery kit alone and that included the cost of a used industrial sewing machine.

I have to apologize, just went out and looked at my new covers and they have the bucket look sewn into the covers not the foam so the flat kit from Legendary would probably work.

If your'e going to have a shop do the seat they will probably use their own material under your cover. I was told not to bother to get anything other than the rear seat cover, it would be cheaper and better if they did the rest using their materials.

I reached out to an old guy I used years ago for interior stuff and he stated exactly that... he said don't worry about it - just get the covers and he will build and shape the foam without any issues.
