Selling an extremely original and complete 1965 DodgeCoronet 500 with a 361/Automatic and hooked up AC (haven’t tried it yet). Being a 500, it is a hard-top and has bucketswith a very nice center console. Paint is original lacquer best I can tell. I am no Mopar expert, but I am a purist and absolutely appreciate a unmolested original. A car that has survived thisoriginal for this many years deserves a good Mopar home which is why I amposting here on this forum. This car doesnot deserve to bastard rat-rod unless your idea of ‘rat-rod’ has a fiberglasshood and hemi.
The original shocks(once replaced) are in the trunk with extra headlight tins and original hubcaps. The owner and his father wereexacting about not putting any holes in the car that weren’t originally there. In short, this is a complete, solid functionalcar that can be enjoyed now and worthy of a complete cosmetic restoration atyour convenience. No time wasted parts-chasinghere.
Originally sold inCalifornia and currently in San Diego, it had always been garaged untilthe last few years. Currently shows 73000miles on the clock. The interior hasalways been covered with towels and is literally a stunner as all the details(dashpad, brightwork, radio, gauges, buttons, etc) are in brilliant originalshape. The original interior is in nearexceptional shape save for one split in the driver’s seat…forgivable after 48 years
The big block 361 firesup and runs without issue… no smoke, sounds very smooth. The brakes were redone shortly prior to itsrecent inactivity and the pedal feels great. A log in the car has recorded dates, mileage andgas consumption at fill-ups.
I will be taking pictures and posting shortly, paying specific attention to relevant information (body, rust, tags, numbers, etc ). I’ve seen no significant rust on the car with the exception of surface rust over the rearwell the size of a silver dollar (it is positively surface rust), so please point out areas of rust activity and I will inspect/photograph accordingly.
I am required to post an asking price by forumrules. Based on my limited knowledge andresearch of B bodies, I am offering the car for $8500. I welcome any comments or insights (or even offers). I will not be offended as I am notfamiliar with this market and the pricing guides can be misleading, so feelf ree.
Read some of the suggested information to include in my post. Car is located in San Diego, CA. Happy to help ship (can dropoff at shippers or accommodate pick up). Sorry, no pics just yet, I would be embarrassed to post pics till I can get it cleaned up and looking proper which should be in the coming days.
Thanks to all for a great site and any feedback.
