The car looks pretty good to me. It could stand a really thorough cleaning and detailing, and some trim is a little weathered like the dash bezel trim that could stand some restoration. But the car looks like a time capsule in many respects

$50K leaves a lot of room to make repairs on a Hemi car purchase, but instead they sent it right back to Mecum
Parking brake light when it it is engaged it lights up.
I was at Dallas and looked at this car. It had been in a long term family museum collection and most of the cars had been neglected for many years. "If" I remember correctly, it was pushed over the auction block.
I wonder if Mecum "buys" some cars at their auctions? I have seen numerous cars show up repeatedly at auction. Idk, perhaps people are flipping them, but many times, they bring even less at later auctions.

Here is the Mecum Dallas link for the 66 Charger that sold for $49,500. The listing states the following:
I sold a 1969 Impala SS 427 at Mecum, see link: 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS for Sale at Auction - Mecum Auctions. After I sold the car it went to another auction a few months later in the Carolinas and sold for less than what I sold it for. Then a year later it sold at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach for less than the prior auction. The guy that bought the car was a phone bidder from Grand rapids Michigan and he called me before the car went through the auction block (found me through the internet) and asked me about the car. He ended up buying the car for $29,000. Then he did some trans work and other minor fixes ( which weren't needed when I sold the car) and sold it through a dealer in Michigan( see link) :1969 Chevrolet Impala.
So it is amazing how many times a car can be sold in a short period. I keep my cars for many years before I have to sell to buy another car.
I just finished a 4 year restoration (weekends only) on my 67 Hemi Charger 4 speed, 1 of 58 made in 1967. I bought my car locally, and although the body was in excellent condition becasue it had factory undercoating and ZIEBART , I still had a hard time finding OEM parts to make the car right. I wouldn't do another one now that I know how difficult and rare parts are for this year car. This car will be a keeper for many years.

I've averaged about seven years of ownership with mine, with my Hemi GTX proving the one exception, owning it for only one year, selling it to buy what was probably the only other GTX in the country I wanted more (early history with the car.") The car I sold to buy the Hemi was in my hands for five years before I sold it to move up, and had been owned nearly 40 years by the second and third owners. I sold it to a flipper in 2021, who took it to auction immediately. The sales price has risen over 50% since I sold it, the car has changed hands three times, two on the auction circuit, and last sale with a dealer.
What I found interesting about the transaction history, in addition to the price increase and short ownership periods, was that the car picked up zero miles during that interval. When I owned it, it was driven over 600 miles a year, now it's become a piece of stationary art work.
