Other than the nut at each end, how does the trim come off the door (quarters and fender for that matter)? First thing I saw when sent a video of this car was the passenger door looked off. Thought maybe an easy adjustment like RC had on his Belvedere, but it appears the trim is on wrong. It doesn't fit the detail like the fender/quarters and drivers door do. Is it possible to put the retainer clips on backwards??? How do I get it off without chipping paint and breaking clips??
Passenger door trim sits to high, it isn't sitting on the "profile" correctly.

Nylon clips, remove nuts then you need to get under pop the trim up. The pieces with nuts unobtainium. If your nylon clips are in good shape they'll little tabe so when you put trim on helps not to chip paint. They're available.

But can these clips be oriented backwards and thus make the trim sit wrong like mine before I bother trying to wreck something???

Passenger side door, right. Think holes are wrong in door its self. Mine is mis-aligned, to high.

Passengers door blurry and looks worse because of the angle. Clips can't be backward.

Dave actually called me about this car before it was listed, he just forgot to tell his guy not to put it up. It was a "shuffle" through the dealership to skip the MTO/appraisal nonsense that a dealer avoids.

Any chance the door has been repaired . maybe not original door. thus the holes were drilled in wrong location.

My drivers side is off the same way. only the left rear quarter mldg sinks a bit on the front end and doesn't align with the door like it should. But mine has had quarters put on it ins past before also.

As far as I know the clips can only be installed one way

I used the plastic prying tools like the ones Princes Auto sell. Laid a piece of small diameter rubber hose down and very gently pried it up.

Well sounds like Fran and Bill also have a passenger door that the trim sits wrong, sounds like someone that had one job continually got it wrong. Can't believe that nobody would correct it over time and kept sending out cars with misaligned belt line trim. My car was built on Dec 15th in 1965.

Absolutely awesome car, and I'm really enjoying the pics. But I don't believe they were built to be perfect, they were built to be fast.

LOL, can't believe they'd let a belt mould trim stay wrong for the entire year. How many door skins did they have punched out before someone said" that don't sit right"! Gonna have a look today and determine if the holes are further inboard than the drivers side.

Sound deadening was done prior to quarter install on these it appears, as they're coated right to the door pillar.

My trim doesn’t align at the top of the door and the rear quarter. Rear quarters are original and my doors are adjusted about as well as is possible. I don’t think the trim would fit if the clips were reversed. I reinstalled my trim by hooking it at the top and pressing it down until it snaps over the bottom. Because of this, lightly prying under the bottom is probably the safest way of removal. It’s pretty flexible except where the ends are closed off - probably the reason for the bolt on clips there. But the bolt on clips were gone on my car replaced with the wedged in plastic clips. The bolt on clip at the front of the quarter would be the tough one to get to. But if the other clips are first released, the trim can be slid forward until the clip is away from the closed off end and then it can be gently pried to release it.

Right door trim alignment 2 pictures and the drivers door to quarter and bottom gap. Doors have never been removed. Picture of trunk corner gap. It's jacked under K member so gaps could be open some.
