1966 Satellite tach problem...

Hey there,although I am a Chevy guy,I am asking this question for my computer illiterate buddy.The original tach in his '66 hasnt worked since he bought the car 6 years ago.He wants to know if there is an easy fix or an OEM tach available.

Thanks for the reply Pops.
Is this a common problem with the tach's in these cars ??
My buddy isnt even sure how to get the tach out of the console area.
Any help would be appreciated.
