Hi. Does anyone know how to remove these from the passanger side of a gtx convertible? The forward window track seems to be in the way. I have a shop manual but can’t find the removal instructions anywhere.
Mine is a 70 & its been awhile but I think I had to take the vent window & track out to get the motor & regulator out. I was completely stripping the doors & as I said, was a while ago (3 years?). Now my problem is I can't figure out how to put them back & the manual is useless for this type of specific information.
Good luck.
Hey Skip:
Thanks for your reply. I was able to figure it out this morning and removed the motor and regulator (window lifting arm) unit. First, I had to raise the window as high as possible. I put a piece of wood inside the door frame to hold it up. The wood has to be as close to the doorhandle mechanism as possible to make removal of the unit easier. Then, make sure that the regulator is fully in the window down position. Then I rotated the motor so that it was at the dop of the door. I had spent consideralbe time trying to remove it with the motor at the bottom. What a waste of time and energy. So, I had to rotate the motor clockwise to the top of the door with the regulator arm pointing down and kept rotating the whole unit clockwise until the regulator arm passed the forward window channel. At that point, it was easy to move the regulator arm towards the outer skin of the door and bring the whole unit towards the access hole. At that point, with a little bit of wiggleing, I was able to get the whole unit out, motor out first. Now to take the motor unit to an auto electric shop to test the motor. Once that is resolved, will I be able to get the unit back in?? Lol.
