Hi Guys and Gals,

I am new to this forum and I am looking for some advice.

I am wanting to get into the classic car hot rod scene. I want to take a
1968 plymouth Belvedere 273 automatic original 2 door coupe original color and turn it into a 1968 Road Runner 383?? I have a couple of questions??

If i take the belvedere and clone it into a Road Runner is the earth going to open up and swallow me?? ha ha I know nothing is better than the original but I don't have that so I am going with what is available.

The second question I have is do they make a conversion mount for going from a 273 to a 383 motor??

I will send pics of this from start to finish if I decide to buy it and go for it.

Thanks for any and all advice on this. I am sure there is a lot on knowledge out there about all these great cars and I can use all that anyone wants to share.

thanks
Larry

welcome to FBBO, maybe post a thread in the welcome wagon & give us some background, introduce yourself, give a good description, maybe show/post some photos, it always helps... It's an easy clone/tribute conversion, from 273-383 they will bolt right in with the proper engine mounts, oil pan, exhaust manifolds & head pipes, transmission {SB-LA273 & BB-B383 auto-trans &/or bell-housings, aren't interchangeable}, drive-shaft, wiring, hood, badging, trim etc., you may want to change the torsion bars & sway bar also, to handle the heavier engine, depends on what the car already has equipped...

i doubt the earth will swallow and devour you......i would watch out for space aliens. theyre hard to see now-a-days because of the cloaking devices they are equipped with..( year 5687 option). you can see the shadows tho. they havent perfected that part of it .

like bud said,,,a 383 will bolt right in. the nice thing about the b bodies is the k- frame is the same for all engines except the hemi....i believe. youll need a tranny that will bolt on and keep up tho. possibly a rear end also.....all easily gotten items.

keep in mind tho...a 68 road runner has a black beep beep horn...and not the purple one. good luck and watch out for moving shadows !

Welcome. If you watched the Mecum Auction. Some clones were going as much as some originals. Be proud of your clone. Good luck.

Thanks for all the input. I have never play with the big boy's toys.. (MOPAR) I always had a GM product. Ha Ha

this is a picture of the one i am going to look at.The owner said it has year on seat covers and door panels but need a head liner. All original including a radio blank out dash.
My last concern is around this is a NO POWER CAR.. no P steering, NO P brakes, No A/C No, P windows... no power anything.

how much time and money am I going to spend doing power disc, and steering on this car???

This is site is cool because of all the knowledge you all have.

thanks
Larry

I was in the same boat as you two years ago when I picked up my 69' Satellite. Lucky for us Roadrunners aren't all that different. Clones are also more fun IMO because you can do what you want and not get yelled at for changing things... Like mine is plum crazy purple but that didn't come out til 70'...

Nice Lookin Car, you should be proud.. Hope mine turns out that nice.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! That Belvy looks like a great start for a clone, go for it!

Welcome to the site from the Right Coast. Great looking car to start with. Tell us how much they want for it.

Missed out on a 68 Belvedere coupe a few years ago. Here's the 68 Road Runner in GTX trim that I had in the early 80's....
