1968 Charger, Ray Barton 528 Hemi, Pro-touring.

Good to hear from you. Wow, 2 years off the recommended 6 year recommended life span! My tires are over the 6 year limit and all they do is hold the car up so far.

Just checking in. :)

How's my favorite Swedish Charger doing?
It's Alive! Did my first testrun just now, although only first gear..
Some kinks here and there to sort out but I'm very close to get it roadworthy and get those license plates on it.

Still no plates but I've moved it(actually drove it!) to my little garage at home to finalize the last bits like interior door panels and the sound system. We did a quite big home improvement and the garage has been filled up with all kinds of stuff for a while but now it's finally cleared out and the cars have their space again + the Charger.
Still the ugly 20" wheels, waiting for the rear 18" to be widened with 1,5" up to 11,5" to fit the fat 315 tires. They're still at the machine shop, been there for almost half a year now..
But I have to say, what a rattlebox it is without the door panels on, I'm definately going to add some more dampening material to the doors!

So what else is going on, my dad had a momentary lapse of reason and bought a new project, a Ford Mustang 1967 Fastback! He's 72 years old now but still going strong, I hope I can follow his footsteps. Will I be banned for posting these pictures?
It came without engine, it's an old Pro street car with a cage and everything that's been sitting for many years since the previous owner got tired of repairing the blown engine after several brakedowns and sold it. I'm currently helping out with the wiring which was a mess. I tore everything out and started from scratch with a cheap "21 circuit hot rod wiring harness". Almost the same job as I did on the Charger. Trying to clean up the cluster and fit the autometer gauges that came with the car inside the cluster for a cleaner look. We'll see.
Dad has torn out the old aluminium firewall and started to clean up welds and just getting everything straight and sound. I think this will be a fun father/son project. A new engine/trans combo is on it's way at least.
And guess what, I'm currently on a business trip to Arizona, USA! A bit colder than I thought it would be but looking forward to some sightseeing this weekend.

Your father picked a project. Somebody was serving spaghetti in front passenger's side.

Finally had som time over the holidays to work on the weels. 275 in th front and 315 in the rear. The rear rims have been widened with 1,5"(42mm) to 11,5. The fronts are 10". To mount the hubcaps i found some steel clips from a VW beetle, 60s that seemed to fit and I got lucky. They fit great! Sprayed the rims with matte black plastidip temporarely, not sure what I want yet, spray satin black or bright red..? The fronts touched the brembo calipers so I need to find a suitable spacer, the only ones I had are 35mm which is way too far out, 10mm will probably be fine. Might need longer studs, anyone know where to order that from?

So, finally got my car registered. Been doing some shakedown drives lately to sort out some bugs. The speedometer doesn't work? It reacts on the bench when I twist a screwdriver where the wire goes but maybe something is off in the gearbox or the cable is broken?
Some wiring issues still, the horn doesn't work, probably not a big thing to sort.
Pulled out the cluster to check all gauges again, all is good now but the new fuel sensor doesn't seem to work?
Brakes, I don't like the feel of the beake, requires a lot of pressure on the pedal, maybe find a master cylinder with smaller bore? Any ideas what big brake brembos require?
Parking brake is very poor, found some flex in the steel plate holding the rear cables. Will try and add support there.

Is the speedo pinion adapter installed per the tooth ranges cast on the face?
Do you have a good ground at the fuel sender?
Mike

i had an issue with too big a bore on master cylinder also, with willwood brake calipers before smaller piston did solve it, see you lost the hemi stripe on the back quarter.

Thanks for the input. Can you elaborate on the "speedo pinion adapter"? Could you send me a link to some info maybe?
Good ground at the sender, I was aware of this issue from others and was very thorough when doing that part.

Thanks, the stripe was a trial, waiting for the real one. Going to give it a polish first.
