Hi all,

I pretty much de-coded my fender tag best I could just have a couple questions.. does the 8 represent an 8.75 and X represents a Dana? I’m just trying to find out the differential. I know it’s a 440 4-speed car, electric blue. If anyone has a better de-coder please let me know

Thanks!

440 4-speed with AX 68 would be a Dana 60 3.54 gears.

If anyone has a better de-coder please let me know.

Thanks for the hard work!
I’m trying to find a good example of this
“2-tone” paint treatment not a lot out there. Is the body & roof 2 different colours?
Also I believe there is a red stripe above the rocker….I could be wrong lol

Thanks again

Yes, seems that's what the tag is saying. Frost blue roof & electric blue body. Oddball, but also very 60's. :fool:

Your welcome wagon says it sports a few different year panels, so obviously a bit of work over the years been done. The car was originally VERY blue, by the tag.

I'd think that, at some point, you will likely find that the car would have had the chrome trim that separates the roof from the quarter panels, like on a vinyl top car.

These often were removed, holes filled, when doing repaints back in the day if doing a single colour or losing the vinyl.

Yes, that sounds very 60s and Damned if I can find a picture of that colour combination on google lol. I have to see if I like it first before I go with that colour combo.

I may have to go to the top with this one…Tony D'Agostino, he’ll have a photo I hope. Great guy, answers all his emails lol

Wow a factory 2 Tone paint car...and not a C-body! I would highly recommend restoring the paint and colour combo to factory original since you will likely never see another 2 tone blue on blue with a blue interior 68 GTX!

I've always had a big soft spot for factory painted roof cars, I had a 70 Sport Fury that was FP6 Frosted Teal Metallic with an EW1 White painted roof, with a matching FP6 colour interior....was a very neat car.

I know of a F6 A12 Bee with a black painted roof. Uncommon, but they’re out there…

Yes! I would like to go back to completely original I’d just love to see a pic of one already done before I commit lol

My buddy wants me to do a Hurst version… I’m on the fence with this one lol

Here’s the two colours and a red rocker stripe is on the tag as well, I wonder if some crazy Canuck ordered it that way lol

I didn't notice a red rocker stripe on the tag? With the different body parts, anything is possible.

The paint scheme is so odd to me, especially for a GTX, you may have a unicorn.

Maybe Tony will give you some insight.

Another oddity the A at the beginning of the VON...
Letters at the beginning of the VON designate special handling or something different about the build... Could have been triggered by the two tone, but there could be some other reason for it..... Maybe Doug will have some input... @69Coronetrt

Built for sale in Canada 'starts with' VONs. Actual applications vary by year and plant. Some years and plants code Y07 to go with the letter VON. Some years use the letter C for the U-C-I code as well as the letter VON.

68=A goes with w/6 code
69=B
70=C
71=B
72-77(?) = C
