My father knows somebody that has a 1968 Hemi Roadrunner painted purple from the factory ( I would suppose it would be plum crazy ). Appearantley its a 1 of 1 in that colour. My question is.... was purple even offered on 1968 mopars? If so was it a special midyear colour? I am very skeptical because I thought plum crazy was first offered in 1970?

I do not think you could get a "Plum crazy" '68 RR....nope!:eusa_think:

nor, think chrysler had the color 'till 1970

Any claims of things outside of 'the norm' or 'conventional wisdom' generally have to be backed up with some documentation.

Are you sure it is not another color, like EE1, that has aged or faded to something that looks purple?

Are you sure dad is correct that it's a 68 and not a 70?

Is the owner of the car the original owner? What do we know about the chain of ownership?

My father heard all of this from the owners brother in law so there may be a few errors. The current owner is not the original owner. I personally think it is a 1970 RR. Thanks for the help

'68....round side marker lights, square tail lights...

'70......rectangular side marker lights, rectangular tail lights, scoop on the quarter past the door..

Some of the easy ways to pick between the two if your father happens to ask.
