Thanks Joel @hunt2elk for selling me your OE scoop bezels from your current Bee project. Definitely less pitted than mine, that I spent numerous hours on cleaning up by sanding and power polishing to get them a least presentable. As matter of fact the ones you sold me are basically just scratched from car cleanings and not pitted at all. Guess I'm back to the power wheel, now to remember what compound I used as these should come out mint to swap onto the car.

Amazing what's still out there and kicking around. A nice near mint horn ring and pad, and especially the center cap, that I picked up from Justin @pearljam724 to swap onto the car, replacing my OE that I took countless hours to make presentable.

Finally getting around to cleaning up the pair of scoop bezels I picked up before Christmas from Joel. Scratched and lightly pitted, but not near as bad as what I had. Right side.

Left side.

With a presentable set already on the car my brain will let me be a tad more agressive this round. 150 paper to start and hoping I don't run out of chrome before the pits/scratches are mostly gone. Then 400 / 1000.

White compound on the harder wheel and rouge on the soft.

Getting there but not happy yet.

One sanded and polished, one not.

Still not there, as you can see pitting/scratches in the center on the right one. Left hasn't been done yet.

Presentable, but I'll continue to beat it up.

Top surface isn't flat, it's concave. Some careful sanding down the center and then more polishing.

I now have both to this stage. Better than what I have installed to the car, but I think I can make it better yet. Famous last words.

Three hours to this stage!

Getting there.. my polished OE's on the left with deep pits and what I'm working on on the right. One more hard cut with White compound and a buff should do it!

Gonna call the RH side done and installed.

Gotta thank Joel @hunt2elk for providing me with some OE bezels to improve my restoration.

Dressed out pretty nice!

Drivers side almost there... just another buff and then install.

The 'zebra" stripes are the reflection of the shops metal ceiling.

Well.. guess I need another car to work on now!

This was about 1.5 hours of work this round = 4.5 hours total to bring these around to this stage.

Thanks, just dig in and go. Fawk it up, buy a spare set from a guy in WI ! I didn't have a clue before I started the Bee...life's a learning curve (full of mistakes!)

wayne i noticed in your thread with turn signal switch that you had a blue wire to coonect,most of these switches today have different colored wires,i have a gray wire,black wire with a green strip and regular black wire i do not have a dark green wire,how do you figure out where to put the different color wires on connector,most have different colors from schematics. thanks

You sure you have the correct switch? If so, compare it's wire locations to the OE you took out and their colours on each switch. About that simple..

where did you buy your switch from?

NOS original switch as noted in the thread. Blew the $$$'s and did it right the second time! Think I got it from AMS Obsolete.

Bought Her a gift that I got from @Jeff Brundage down in New Brunswick. Near mint licence plate holder. Just need to clean up the rusty pin/spring/nuts, put back together and swap onto the car after removing my old one that I dollied for hours to get straight and painted black.

Nice clean piece Wayne. That parts car Jeff has is in some shape. Ever try vinegar on the galvanized? A fine line between real clean and screwed. lol I practiced on a old bucket before I tried my license plate light bracket. Did not want to wash the galvanize off. That one looks cherry!
