1969 GTX Restoration Moving Along...

Seats in yesterday. Using a solder iron works nifty to burn bolt holes. I first used a 10d nail to go thru the bolt holes from underneath the car. Then used solder iron were nail stuck thru the carpet. Makes a quick mess free hole. No need to cut an "x" first.

Remaining: side trim pieces to be mounted on the doors..I ordered some new real trim clips that mount with a nut inside the doors..before installing the door trim...The plastic clips that came with the trim set is absolute junk! Get the rest of the trim on the car and then the bumpers. Then, new rubber brake lines, and good to go..

Mosquitoes just started coming out Sunday and yesterday here in Minny....Had about a good 4 weeks since the last snow until the bugs and the humidity....Good ole Minnesota!!

I truly hate missing 69 threads, and you sir have a great deal, project, ride going on!!! VERY nice indeed!!! :) Good luck to the finish!

Kids baseball getting in the middle of all this! I coach my 3rd grade sons team and help on my other son's team..But the time is flying that they are young and a car is just a piece of steel. I Was at Mopars in the Park over the weekend. Missed the rain. Needed some odds and ends such as the front seat belts that attach by each door..Those probably went missing from prior owner somewhere around 1970! New door seals and am pulling the ones on car from Softseal as they never did fully compress with a jar of vaseline used on them. (they sat new, however in the closet for 8-10 years)..These from Metro are much softer to begin with. Left rear bumper bracket.....little stuff...Will up date soon.

Baseball cancelled last night due to too much rain sitting on the fields. I was able to install the rear bumper. I had picked up some 20.00 rear bumper brackets at Mopars in the Park on Saturday. Some prior madman had reamed out the holes and installed one size larger nuts welded on. Took them off and welded on correct size nut for the correct rear bolts.

I will need to add some updated pics.

Looking great! Can't wait to get to that stage of the game.

I bit the bullet on saturday (mopars in the park)and bought new door seals (again) since the first ones were from softseal. Installed driver side last night...new ones are from metro...what a huge difference. The new ones probably weigh half of the old ones and are much softer. Door fit better already. You see so many restored cars with the doors hanging half open on a shut door. Makes the cars look like the had quarters hung wrong or something.

I have the factory type 2.5 exhaust megaphones that will fit in the 2.5 TTI exhaust I have. Afraid that will constrict flow. Will probably get some that fit outside the tube as a female fit vs the male fit now if to use.

Nice, my daughter decided to not play ball this year and go figure i got my car done haha, I do miss watching her. You've gotta enjoy them while they're young for sure, they grow up way to quick. What's that black stuff all over your garage floor? Looking good

Thanks....some black paint on the floor, and carpet pieces..Didnt quite get enough carbboard down...painting the grill and misc pieces...Going to redo floor once car is done.

Looks great buddy, I had another friend recommend Macco for painting and I heard they do a great job. Keep the pics coming.

Looking good! keep the pics coming! We are nearing completion with our 69 GTX restoration and I can't wait to be done and start driving them more!

Car will need the wheel well chrome...I don't have that yet.....Maybe a little more work this weekend on it and some more posts...Car has not been cleaned up yet...Plenty left to do...Maybe Saturday afternoon...Bible study first with a group of guys and then off to batting cages...I still coach my 3rd grade son's team. It is fun.

It all takes time. As long as you get a little done, you are still moving in the right direction!

The car looks great for a maaco paint job. I have seen mixed reviews for them, but I am still thinking about going to them if any of my cars ever get to the paint stage

IMG_0336.jpgIMG_0337.jpgIMG_0335.jpgCouple quick pictures. I still need fender chrome. Car will go to BIR to drag race with the Poly's on it in late August as MSRA rents the track for a weekend. I will post more pics once I get it on the road.

Looks very nice. Bet your the only with a black gtx with green seat belts. One of a kind. Jk. Looks very nice and Macco did a good job too

Do you have the wheel well chrome yet? I'm looking and trying to figure out who makes the best as I can't find OEM pieces.

Just one green one in the back:icon_tongue:..The others are black from a 69 Charger. It was hot and humid that day and I was out of patience looking for a correct color. I can get painted black w/o causing any damages....Heck I am suprised any seatbelts exist for these cars in these years. Many were taken completely out as you "didn't need them"!:icon_jokercolor:

No. I have poked around a little myself as to which ones will fit the best. Mine look like they had been of for sometime when I got the car in 1989. Decide which Chinese chrome fits the best!:icon_mrgreen:
