I’ve known about this 1969 383 auto Road Runner for about 20 years. It’s a one family, 45,000 mile, 95% original paint, rust free, unrestored spring special RR. Lots of documentation, and tons of vintage pictures, half a dozen time slips from the early 70s. And a few traffic citations from back in the day.
Car was pulled off the road in the late 70s. Then back on the road for a few weeks in the late 80s. After that it never saw the road again.
In the late 80s when the owner tried to get it back on the road it developed an oil burning problem. He removed one head, set it a side and never touched it again. And the car just sat in the garage.
When the owner passed away in 2018, his only daughter and son-in-law planned on getting it back on the road and started by removing the engine and having it gone through to repair the cylinder surface rust from sitting exposed for 35 years. Other than boring it 20 over and replacing the Pistons, the engine retains most of its original components. Other than having the transmission freshened up nothing else has been touched on the car.
With life getting in the way and things changing, they decided to sell me the car. So now I will start the preservation of this car, trying to keep it as original and unrestored as possible.
These pictures are as the car sat from around 1989 to 2018
Thanks
Pat

Great acquisition, original unrestored cars are hard to come by. It's only original once try to do as little as possible. It will take longer to persevere than to restore, but will give you greater satisfaction.

The car was built on April 1 and delivered on April 30 1969. The picture below is just a few weeks after taking delivery.

That's an amazing score!

Yes, keep it as is as much as possible, it's a time capsule and only original once.

Here are a few more pictures from the early 70s and the little girl in the 2nd picture is the daughter that I bought the car from.

Great score!

I now have my father-in-law's 1962 340 HP Corvette. It is an unrestored survivor car that has gained a Top Flight award. Normally, I am not too concerned about 100% factory correct, but on this car, it is worth the extra effort to keep it original.

I would love to see some interior and engine bay pictures of your new car as you get to check it out.

Quarter mile time slips in the glove box, along with the owners manual.

Pit pass under the passenger front seat.

Drive-in movie tickets stuffed into the shoulder belt clip.

And the build sheet under the backseat.
